La Liga giants Barcelona are weighing up a shock move for Arsenal wideman Gabi Martinelli in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has been one of Arsenal’s attacking stars across the last few years.

Martinelli has notched 51 goals and 29 assists across 225 matches for the North Londoners and is under contract at Arsenal until 2027 with the option to extend his deal by another year.

However, after another trophyless season, which saw them finish as Premier League runners-up for the third year on the bounce, Martinelli has attracted transfer interest from La Liga champions Barcelona.

Barcelona will explore a possible summer move for Martinelli if they fail to land Luis Diaz or Marcus Rashford with the Nou Camp outfit strongly linked to the latter – but it has emerged the Catalans are not willing to spend £40m on the Manchester United attacker, and would prefer a loan deal.
