 Let’s be honest and tell it how it is: Arsenal are a gutless shambles with no tactics
Nevermind “The Gooner is too negative”, in the real world Arsenal do not cut it
Chelsea have organised teamwork, we have disorganised guesswork. Arsenal are a gutless hopeless rudderless shambles. Four huge matches in a row: well we’ve played the first three and there was never a hope we’d win any of them and the players knew it.
I’ve said it many times: to be the best you have to believe that you are the best and we don’t believe it. To beat your fellow title contenders you have to believe that you are better than them and we don’t believe that we are better. We never had a chance to beat United or Chelsea because we know we are inferior. We left Bendtner on the bench against Chelsea and played Arshavin on his own up front. What did we think we would achieve? Were Chelsea supposed to worry? Arshavin is a fine player but he is no lone striker. We were really showing them! A tiny striker and defensive players following the ball rather than staying in position and marking their man: there, take that Chelsea! It’s embarrassing. The current Arsenal set-up, with its pampered rudderless shirkers, is an embarrassment to our club’s great name. Yes, our run-in is not too bad while United and Chelsea may face sterner tests. Yes, we may pick up points on them and cut back the lead, we’ve done it already this season. But the crushing reality is that we do not deserve to win the title because there are two sides out there that are better than us, all ends up. Arsene Wenger is a fine illusionist: the myth has been created that he is a genius and too many people still buy into it. We play fantastic football, that is the PR. The reality? Arsenal have loads of possession because we have no idea or defined tactics for what to do with it. That is our killer crushing reality. Wenger spins us the future while failing to offer us any real chance of the present. Let’s be honest and tell it how it is: Arsenal are a gutless shambles with no tactics. Nevermind “The Gooner is too negative”, in the real world Arsenal do not cut it. For my part, I always look for positive angles, I am a natural optimist. I look for solutions, I don’t dwell on problems. But I am also a realist. I am no fool and we Arsenal fans are being fooled. No Arsenal fan should allow themselves to be hoodwinked any longer: we fail to equip ourselves for the challenges we are set. We had a transfer window to sign a proper goalkeeper, a defensive midfielder and a striker. We did none of this and have left ourselves with half a season of challenges we cannot meet. I like Arsene Wenger a lot and I cannot imagine anyone else in charge but the notion of ‘Arsene Knows’ is a PR myth.
