Re: Following Arsenal in the early 80`s

“I will however tell u a little story about Cass, happened circa 1985 outside the clock end….” Not as good, but nearly, I kindly refer to it as living by your wits…… Standing on crewe station dressed in casual attire I was definitely having second thoughts about this little foray with the ICF all of ...

Re: Following Arsenal in the early 80`s

BTW – The respect from West Ham stems largely from the 80`s. During this period football Violence was at its height and due largely to baby boom in the sixties we also had the biggest crews ever seen at football matches, surely any team with a crew would want to try it at west Ham? No way, Chelsea, ...

Re: Following Arsenal in the early 80`s

“One thing though I don't understand..... I haven't read that much on the subject, but Arsenal rarely seem to make it into anyones list of top firms. One of the big exceptions though seems to be from West Ham. It does seem as if there is more of a respect from them than other clubs.... No?” A bit li...

Re: Following Arsenal in the early 80`s

Clockender1 – I read steaming in a couple of years ago a great book and it solved a twenty five year plus mystery and had me chuckling as a result, that was where the tale of Ironing board Mick came from. Back in the early eighties a West Ham mate of mine was asking me if I knew Ironing board Mick w...

Re: Following Arsenal in the early 80`s

To all the lads, Thanks for the memories and enjoy following Arsenal to Bolton in 1980 FA CUP............. It was late Friday night and I was just finishing my job helping the local green grocer on his round, I reached into my top pocket for a fag and pulled out a fiver as well my heart raced, this ...

Re: Following Arsenal during the 70`s

I have always given Spurs credit for taking the North Bank, 76 -81. 82 was the damaging year for the Spurs mob in my opinion, they won 3-2 but basically only took where they stood and Arsenal held their own. From then on we knew were better. In 83 at White hart lane no more hiding no more walking to...

Re: Following Arsenal during the 70`s

Drawing the dribbling line Brady took before scoring a great goal was not what my mates wanted to know during those dull physics lessons, where the Arsenal mobs where situated around the away fans was of far more importance, hence I can remember some these incidents very well but ohms law escapes me...

Re: Following Arsenal during the 70`s

"Spurs started coming in the North Bank and took it more than once in the 70's and even early 80's they were a horrific mob" "Chelsea dont like admitting it whereas they never tire of telling us about boxing day 77" I do remember Tottenham encountering an equally horrific mob of ...

Re: Following Arsenal during the 70`s

"Semi-final was at Stamford Bridge and although I wasn't there I remember we had the Shed that day. Was that the only time we were successful in attempting to take it?!?!?!" Arsenal were the first team to take the Shed in early seventies, Arsenal old boys will telll you that they did it tw...

Re: Following Arsenal in the early 80`s

Wrote this elsewhere, a memory from 82 Arsenal v Spurs on the North Bank, " with Denton’s mob certainly making more of an effort than your lot" That quote does deserve a special mention before its lost in time. The OB managed to seperate the Arsenal and Spurs fans on the North Bank but Den...

Memories from the 80`s

Brought a tear to eye when I first saw this, most of the images are from Arsenal West Ham 82 when it kicked off big time on the North Bank and against Villa in about 81 when they won the League. Forget the rubbish films with crews of 30 or 40 at 0:36 is Arsenals crew on the pitch, I am in there some...
