Re: Man City HOME Sunday August 12th 4pm

Ozil's creativity is less important in games against teams like City. I would prefer a stronger middle and work ethic out wide, rather than Ozil's finesse passing. Why are fans so interested in the same old Wenger stuff of picking the same teams & formations? Against the top 6, we should be more...

Re: Man City HOME Sunday August 12th 4pm

I have a feeling Emery will go for a 4-3-3 4-5-1 hybrid. Lacazette and Miki on the wings with PEA upfront, Ramsey, Torriera & Xhaka in midfield, Ramsey with the license to go forward. I dont think Ozil should start. Bellerin & Monreal should still get forward, with Torriera & Xhaka slid...

Re: Man City HOME Sunday August 12th 4pm

I imagine City would be cautious of us. I think if you offered them a point they would take it. I have always felt some fans suffer from the spider syndrome - the failure to recognize your opponents are just as scared of you as you are of them. We do have a lot of quality players, particularly upfro...

Re: Unai Emery

Whether we pressed is not the point, the point is that was the idea. & pressing high up the pitch requires an enormous amount of effort & concentration. There are times when you just need to admit its not viable in certain times & against certain teams & instead drop deep & defen...

Re: Unai Emery

As far as formations go, what we need to remember is Emery might mix it up based on opposition & whether its a home or away game. With Wenger it was always 4-2-3-1 high pressing & attacking. With emery, at home against a bottom half team, we might play play 4-3-3 and press high up the pitch,...

Re: Unai Emery

Under Emery, Im predicting Bellerin to get back to his 2015 form, & Xhaka to become a top performer.

Re: The ONLY World Cup thread (merged)

I agree with the sentiment that it was arrogant to assume England would beat Croatia. This is a team with a Modric-Rakitic midfield duo. Do you think Jordan Henderson & Delle Alli would be getting in the Real Madrid or Barcelona midfield?

Re: The ONLY World Cup thread (merged)

If there is one good thing to come form this World Cup, then the relationship between the fans/press and the team is healed. As an outsider, I always found the English fans and media's relationship with the national team weird. It was full of hostility, mistrust, and fear. Mind you its probably iden...

Re: The ONLY World Cup thread (merged)

This has been a pretty poor world cup in terms of great teams. In 2014 you could see Germany winning it a mile away, likewise Spain in 2010, & Brazil in 2002. Italy was a shock winner in 2006, & if Croatia win it it will be an even bigger shock. I think France are the best team at this tourn...

Re: The ONLY World Cup thread (merged)

John Stones for all his ability on the ball has a nasty habit of switching off. Its one thing to be a casual player who makes the game look effortless, but you wonder if his style makes him vulnerable to switching off. Because it wasnt a uncharacteristic of him - its characteristic of him to switch ...

Re: The ONLY World Cup thread (merged)

Had England had won, do you reckon Spurs fans would ever have let the world forget that in 2018 both captains of the world cup finalists were Spurs players?

Re: The ONLY World Cup thread (merged)

Beat Tunisia, Panama, Sweden. Drew to Columbia, lost to Belgium & Croatia. The favorable draw really was the reason England got this far. France have beaten Argentina, Uruguay & Belgium to get to the final. Belgium picked u the Brazil scalp. So when you break it down, the results England got...

Re: Transfers / players in / players out merged thread

Real Madrid are going to have to fill the gap left by Ronaldo. Im thinking Neymar, Hazard or Mbappe as the only viable options. Hope they get Hazard. One thing we have going for us this year, is there is no uncertainty - no Sanchez, Nasri, Fabregas 'will he or wont he' leave hanging over any of our ...
