Dont think so, when liverpool finished outside the top 4 in 2005 but won the EC both them and Everton were allowed in if I remember correctly.

I think UEFA changed the rules after that so that it couldnt happen again

UEFA changed it after livrpool won so no country can have 5 teams. so if chavs win then only top 3 go into CL.

Thanks Reb thats what I've thought but I've yet to see it mentioned anywhere.

Whilst the chances are against them this is probably the best chance Chelsea will ever have in the CL as no one expects them to do anything .........they and their manager have nothing to lose by going for it against Barca,which is the only way to beat them.

Now I'm far from counting chickens BUT it COULD happen and I can see the maggots sneaking 4th hopefully behind us !

Why not? We would've beaton Barca last year if the ref hadnt robbed us, and even then if Nikky B could have put away that sitter right at the end. Far stranger things have happened in Football.

Exactly. Chelsea are obviously underdogs, but we've all seen far bigger upsets than this, so it's possible.

Depends which Arsenal team turns up, we seem to lack motivation against the smaller teams.
