THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Merson on Talksport this morning, once again incredulous that the club has allowed Sanchez contract to run down. He said in his 13 years at the club his contract NEVER got below 18 months.Of course those 13 years weren't under Wenger and Merson does not refer to Wenger in the same reverent tones as people like Pires and the rest of that lot.....

Then we had to listen to Cwossy....currently touring with Arsenal and his hero AW....Wenger has vehemently insisted Sanche will not be sold but of course,as Merson said, Arsenal will not eat 50m...

PRICK!!
Sanchez is off. Man City will pay decent money for him or PSG if they don't get Neymar will pay more. He's not staying and why should he? And does anyone actually believe anything that *word censored* Wenger says any more. He's a lying, untrustworthy *word censored*.

It still baffles me how people still think this man is a financial genius.

Letting two of our "Big Stars" and an English international contracts run down to give them the upper hand by taking the club to ransom is genius alright

Add in "Podolski and Giroud were bought to play with Robin Van Persie, not replace him" and you when asked if Vermaelen will be replaced he answered "certainly" (he wasn't ) and you have the full set.

Sanchez is only a matter of time - thanks for the goals in cup semi finals, cup finals (including the best cup final goal we have scored v Villa) and the moments of skill and magic.

Yeah and he knows if we don't sell to P$G then Sanchez will walk away to City next summer, maybe Sanchez wont go to P$G though?, hope not because then Wenger will claim how we've changed and that "he kept" Sanchez for his final year.

The amateur economist's followers like to remind us of his tin-pot Economics degree... they forget all his crackpot 'theories' which never come true - football being in a 'bubble' springs to mind, as well as FFP paving the way for us to dominate world football

I actually think the amature economist might get it right about the bubble eventually, more by luck than judgement though. Looking at the prices being paid for mediocre players coming into the PL currently if clubs want to make anything back off them selling out again they're going to have to take a hefty loss on some of them, clubs outside the EPL are not going to be able to meet the eyewatering prices and wage demands

Absofuckinglutely.I mean look at our squad as an example (probably the best one cos it's the least or one of the least value for money anywhere in world football) packed to the brim with average shite on way above average wages  And when our gooduns want to leave to achieve success away from le bulbeye we have usually been stung in player sales over the years..on the flip side look at chavski they seem to always get good coin even for average players.
