Hi all,

Just thought id start a topic on here about the away match at Stoke in a couple of weeks giving you abit of information which i found out yesterday.

Away fans are usually sent to the 'LRV' student club at the university but as this is shut due to it not being term time all Arsenal fans will be told to go to 'The Terrace' pub which is on the same road as the LRV its on Leek Road just round the corner from the train station. There will be return buses running from there to the ground and back the same as last season.

I know last year alot of fans travelled by train - what time are peoples trains getting into Stoke in the morning?

I think it opens about 10am

What time is everyone booked on there train back after the game?

The match is due to finish about 3:30pm, the trains back i could get are 4:08pm or 5:08pm. I think im best getting the 5:08pm train as we have to wait for buses back to the station after the game.

If you're a fairly quick walker, don't bother with the buses. Hang a right out of the away end, cross the footbridge & head right up the canal for about 20 mins. You can jump off the footpath practically right next to the station...

Getting in to Stoke station just before 11am, and heading straight to the pub, not fussed on return journey as got open tickets...

What are the thoughts on wearing colours? I hear our hosts can be a little lively?

Wear colours if you want, you'll get called a soft prick/southern wanker/gloryhunting *word censored* but i'm sure you can handle it. That said, they are a scummy bunch with not much between the ears so you can save yourself a lot of hassle if you don't bother.

Saw a group of about 4/5 EDL types giving grief to a Gooner lad of about 12 last season - "Little twat, you don't even live near Arsenal do you? Fucking gloryhunter!" I did point out that he couldn't really be classed as a gloryhunter considering we haven't won anything for 7 years and was told in no uncertain terms to "fuck off"

If you're planning on taking the buses the Police herd us onto like cattle then colours are fine. If you're walking don't do it, just not worth the hassle. The term neanderthal was invented for these sisterf****rs. This lot would not need make up to be cast as extras in "The Hills Have Eyes"

If you’re sensible you should avoid any trouble. I found it easiest to not bother with colours as you can therefore escape being herded off by the police at the station to some pre-designated dump of a pub and could go where I wanted.

Went to some “home fans only” pubs in Stoke central before walking up to the ground (if you’re a quick walker it doesn’t take long, either via the roads or along the canal) and joining the throng in the Harvester, then the Away end. If its not raining then its preferable to the busses in my opinion.

Couple of decent ale pubs near the station – both very much Home Fans Only, but if you’re there early and not in colours they’re fine:

I travelled by train to this fixture last year, i drank at the designated away fans pub before the game and i used the buses escorted by police to and from the ground which was pretty organised.

Looking forward to it as i honestly believe we will come away with 3 points!!
