Arsenal - thanks for the memories.....

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Great photo, even if it is at the shithole :!: (we won the league there you know  )

Most of the 71 double team, with big Willie Young thrown in for good measure.

Cant place the keeper mind

Definitely the 91 kit

Some absolute legends there :barscarf:

Keeper = Paul Barron ??

One of my favourite kits :barscarf:

Good spot - I'm thinking it's Barron.

Fuck me, look at the intensity of the pressing and the speed of the counter attack, and compare that to the Ramsey-led sideways-backwards tippy-tappy dogshite we're served on a regular basis now. Only time I've ever caught of glimpse of anything like this from our current crop is the Chelsea game this season

What would Radford's transfer fee be valued at these days?

Even John Matthews got TV airtime.

Thanks for posting that, don't recall seeing it before.

Shocking state of the pitch - had it had the horse of the year show on the weekend before ?

Radford thinks Radfords value would be huge, big man, with good feet, and pace too - the idea player for our (Wenkers) shit system, as he can hold it up or go it alone if the opportunity arises.

European Cup v Juventus 1980 [both legs]

Steve Walford at LB and Willie Young at Center-forward.

2nd leg was the night before my 11th birthday, Iistened on the radio.
Can remember crying close to the end, and I actually prayed that we would score ( can't remember what I promised to do if we did, but I obviously didn't keep my deal )

Me too mate. Looking back at old games is the only thing that stirs any passion in me.

I was at the Juventus game you posted, although I was very young. It was the first big crowd game I was allowed to go to. All I remembered (until seeing it again) was that Juventus wore an all black kit and Jennings saved a penalty. Neither of those things were actually right : )

I heard on the last Footballistically Arsenal podcast that Tony Adams and Martin Keown hated each other

Is that right? Given Keown's endless teacher's pet attitude to TOF, even now ('My football father' ), it may not be as big a surprise as it used to be. I know that Keown didn't think much of GG. I heard he was sold due to his wage demands. GG was notorious for keeping wages low at the club. A total opposite to today's mad Socialist Wage Structure of TOF where any plodder can get £30-60K a week.

Anyway, were there any other surprising enemies at the club? :box:

In Tony's book he did state that one of the team (and I think he disclosed they were English ) never contacted him while he was at Chelmsford nick.

Whoever it was maybe was thinking that the club captain maybe should be more responsible than getting bladdered then driving ?

Rare Alan Hudson [No.11] clips.

The enigma that he was.

I must say that I find the negative responses to Theo getting 100 goals extremely ... well err ... well extremely justified actually. Carry on :)
