Wayno/ Mutley Gooner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Indeed it is - obviously we all wish it was under better circumstances, but hopefully the guys will stick around for a while and help bring this place back to the type of place it used to be 8)

Hell yeah.

As a tribute to Wayno I think the least we could do is get the forum taken offline for a couple of days.

Who or what can we start on to get a complaint big enough sent to Gooner.ed or Mike Francis so they pull the plug :hmmthink:
I'm sure one of the old threads containing certain photo's would suffice

Friends,

As you know by now your mate and mine Wayno has passed away. I don't know the full details but Wayne's life tragically came to an end on Friday evening.

Through the forum I got to know Wayno and I feel lucky and proud to call myself a mate of his. You will all know the laugh a minute, no holds barred and abrasive Mutley. Not all of you will know the generous, caring and wonderful husband and father of three children.

Wayno really was a one off and I best describe him as a 'force of nature'. How he combined the madness with so much love, compassion and generosity really was unique. You won't find another Wayno. They broke the mould, probably sensibly, when they made him.

I could list a hundred memories but a few that will stay with me forever are the New Years Eve our families spent together, camping with him and other friends and also the occasion he left the ground at half time so pissed he thought the game was done. We was 2-0 down at half time and it was only when he was half way home he found out we had won 3-2. The daft sod hadn't even noticed the Holloway Road was empty!

I've been thinking who will miss Wayno and I actually find it easier to list who won't so here they are:

Arsenal stewards or the 'hi-viz bastard spawn of Wenger gestapo' as he lovingly referred to them.

The Chelsea fans at Wembley Central station.

Curry house owners who suffered Wayno's love of ordering a meal and a drink and then leaving as soon as he had drunk the pint of Cobra. "We are just popping out for a fag" he would tell the waiters.

Oliver Giroud, no explanation required.

Arsene Wenger. I'd like to think he will miss being abused from the Clock End.

Anyhow, meeting to celebrate Wayne's life will be too complicated and too damn expensive. Can I suggest that next time you have a pint (or a cup of tea Augie) that you raise your glass, look to the sky and say "cheers Wayno". He will be up the causing mayhem with his old man and another friend Steve/Charlie!

My thoughts are with Zoe, Wayne's wonderful wife and his beautiful children Charlie, George and Freya.

I hope life is treating you all well and you never know we may meet again at The Arsenal one day soon.

There will be a pint on the bar for you both tonight Wayne and Steve my friends!

God bless!
Hi Olgitgooner

I think Chippy invoked the official secrets act and heavily redacted most of it.

Still, if you do a basic search of the forum using just the word Wayno, you'll probably hit pay dirt after a few threads 8)

Yeah some of them still are. Alot of the photo links are broken, either from the new forum going online or maybe people changing accounts or deleting photos.

The more dodgy (but hilarious) stuff like the dwarf porn was obviously deleted though.

One of the seriously funniest threads ever on here was Gus' Agony Uncle thread. There was actually two or three "Ask Gus" threads. Here's two I found;

Apart from the comical "medical problems" and the hilarious responses from Gus, I find it very sad at how many quality forum members we have lost over the years - we all have ex forum members whose postings we miss the most, but to see so many of them in one thread highlights how many are gone and how big of a loss they are.
If any of you lads/ladies are still checking in at times, can we please encourage ye to rejoin our little community and show these newbee's how this place used to be

I was gonna clean up this tribute thread and move the more "tasty" posts to the Number 5 thread but you know what? I think Wayno would probably like it the way it is and have a good laugh. What you guys think?

Hi all
Wayne's funeral today was a bit emotional. Seeing his wife and children suffering their loss was hard to take. His oldest boy talked through a wonderful eulogy. Brave boy.
I stood outside the chapel with about thirty other people.
Wayne's uncle from Australia sent some words which made us all laugh. He talked about the day when Wayne was trying to save seats for his friends in the Gunners pub(?)
He got fed up saying that the seats were for his mates. So he had a brainwave. He pretended to be a Tourette's sufferer. People don't want to sit next to a Tourette's sufferer. :|
Every time people went to sit down at the table he gave it the large swear words and barked out loud.
Only Wayne would have even thought of this. Let alone carry it out.
Wayne was, and will always be, an absolute legend.
