SteveO 35 wrote:Just back from the weekend away in Preston - sorry lads but you just can't match that type of excitement in the league and rarely in the Be All and End All. We were fucking desperate in the first half - I'm sure it has already been said on here in the 16 pages, and I can't think of a single player, bar possibly Iwobi, who came off that pitch after 45 mins with any credit whatsoever. Second half we actually played and acted like the superior team and knocked the stuffing out of them with that early goal - fuck me did Ramsey need that as most of the Gooners anywhere near me were giving him plenty of shit

Nice to have a keeper between the sticks who isn't a coward and can actually do the simple things without punching or producing Hollywood saves for the camera - felt much more assured with him there rather than the geriatric Chav who no doubt will return for the league game at Swansea.

Giroud has to stay in the team at the moment - he's a streak player and I know later in the season he'll probably go 10 without a goal but for now he has to stay in as he is pretty much the focal point of every successful attack.

Fair play to Lucas as well - I've dug him out on here for his early performances but thought he put a lot into yesterday and that assist for the winner was pure class.

The season continues.....just. Thank fuck for that - roll on the 4th round. Somewhere else where we'll get 6,000 tickets or so please and have a right royal piss up

:barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
Pretty much saved me from posting there, I hate Giroud with a passion but he's doing the business scoring some vital goals. If only he didn't go missing for 10 games a season. We went to the only pub in the vicinity of the ground called sumners, it was rammed full of Gooners and two people serving at the bar. Do they not know Londoners will drink them dry with the low beer prices up there!

With regards to the PNE fans that said we wern't noisy, utter bollocks is all I say. I was 3 rows from the front of our end and even when they scored there was only pockets of support to the left of us, and behind the home end goal that where singing in unison. It was a good atmosphere in our end for the most part, but it's not surprising the enthusiasm was sucked out of the Arsenal fans in the first half, but even then it was quite noisy. When we equalised, the whole of the second half we where getting behind the team. I watched the game on catch up and fuck yes, we where just as noisy as the home fans, so for them to come out with the you only sing when your winning craps is just bitter northern bollocks all over.

Just one more thing to add, 10 hours in a fucking coach arranged by Arsenal FC was hard work. Although it was only a tenner, they didn't want us getting there early and it felt like the old days when travelling football fans are treated like a herd rather than paying customers.

Glad you had a good time and I agree the support was tremendous and very noisy, the same old sing while you are winning and same old Arsenal always cheating are water off a ducks back, so we'll done :barscarf:

Better than a 'match day' 6 in the Champions League away in Greece?

I think fans of all clubs tend to exaggerate the their away support ... although quite often the TV doesn't do the atmosphere justice either.

But whatever noise our away fans did or didnt generate, taking nearly 6,000 to Preston is pretty fucking impressive and it looked fantastic having the whole end in a single tier stand.

Having at least one 1 tier stand behind the goal is essential in a British football ground.

Now you are talking, it pisses me off when supporters are stuck up in Row ZZZ, where you need fucking binoculars to see your team, at least give us breathing apparatus and a course on how to deal with Acrophobia for some...
Teams like Barcelona and Newcastle should be avoided, fuckem the cheeky bastards, hit them in the pocket till they give us decent tiers, especially that fat Totnum supporting cheapskate ooop north who treats youngsters like slaves at sportsindirect....

Was going to post yesterday about how long it would take for us to hear the classic "Same old Arsenal.. Always cheating" from the natives.
Think I heard it when Gabriel had blood streaming down his face..
Anybody who was there think any different..?

Just watched the BT highlights show of about an hour and even when Preston were on top and winning I didn't hear them singing loud and proud.

Btw who was the fat knacker part of the medical team who treated Gabriel ?
I hope he isn't the dietician

Didn't know they still did the getting there late bit, I mistakenly thought they might treat you as adults now.
Glad I did the trains as there were some good pubs up there.

Yeah driver said we have to do what the police say. So instead of not having a break, we stop at services one hour away for late lunch. Then we have a slow police escort into the ground. We got there at 3:45, should have been there at least an hour before. Barely had enough time for one beer by the time we got to the rammed pub.
