Sanchez allegedly admits to tax evasion

Post by Nos89 »

Heard this story earlier on this evening, anyone know details of what his punishment could be? The news report didn't divulge the information.

Apparently true - but in Spain.

Rules Atletico Madrid out.

Still Juventus, PSG, and god forbid, Chelsea or City capable of signing him.

If he does leave - someone at the top needs to be sacked. There cant be no repercussions for such a calamity. When Cesc and Nasri both left in the same season, everony washed their hands of it (Wenger, Gazidis and the board).

SENAL FORWARD ALEXIS Sanchez has admitted to tax fraud totalling nearly €1 million to a Catalan court.
The Chile international acknowledged two crimes against the Treasury which took place while he was on the books of Barcelona between 2012 and 2013, with Europa Press reporting an overall value of €983,443.
Alexis made his declaration on Monday via video link, with the hearing lasting only a couple of minutes.
Reports suggest that the 28-year-old has already returned the money he owes and will likely be handed a fine rather than be put on trial.
His defence team will, however, have to a reach an agreement with the Treasury regarding the size of a fine for the delay in payment and on the length of a prison sentence — which would be short and therefore suspended.
Prosecutor Miguel Angel Perez de Gregorio argued that Alexis avoided paying tax on his image rights by using a company based in Malta.
The issue was first raised in November 2016, with the Gunners forward joining the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Javier Mascherano in being accused of tax evasion.

Fair enough but why does it seem impossible for British authorities to reclaim unpaid tax from people. The Spanish are on a campaign at the moment. Loads of people have been caught and punished. Meanwhile, back in Blighty, everyone gets away with it.

Unless he has a need to return to Spain (which I suppose he might via the CL) whay is he actually bothering to pay it?

Alexis will probably be found hiding under his coat pretending not to be in when the tax man comes knocking round his manor to collect the debt.

He'd rather go to jail than play for Wenger.
