Over a month ago you were adamant that wenker was going (and that was even before Bayern away), so why have you changed your mind flash ? :? After the Bayern away leg I thought that he was a dead man walking, but then he rode out that storm and even though I wasn't as sure, I still felt that he wouldn't renew - now I am almost convinced that he will sign the new deal and in doing so will finally sap the last remaining piece of devotion that I have to AFC
I convinced Flash of the sad and terrible truth of #May2025, augie,
So it's your fault his poor family have been on suicide watch - You Cruel Sod!

Exactly my thoughts. We are absolutely at the point of no return and Le fraud knows this. Anyone who thinks we've been here before should look at things a bit more closely. There is zero confidence and belief in this team and we are not even creating chances any more. Historically Le fraud's teams have always taken an eternity to come out of a slump but unfortunately or fortunately there is little time for them to wallow in self pity.
Again, we've been here before with Wenger. I know you weren't on here last season but take a read back through the scum thread and a couple others and you'll see all these exact same posts repeated. Nothing really has changed, except that last year's pathetic and frankly embarrassing damp squib protest has taken on new life this year because better people are now involved, not just the couple of attention-seeking, social media whore, streetfighter-wannabe, tossers we had last season. And of course there were also good people that tried their best last year too. It's just that now we have more of them, and less of the attention seekers. 8)
I'm not denying we've had many close calls in the past but people are just looking at the results and ignoring the poisonous environment. Fan apathy, key players wanting to leave, chaos with his own contract etc. When was the last time you saw this toxic mix?

Le fraud has got worse teams to limp to 4th and I agree he has mastered the art of top 4 but we always had stability and were never in such turmoil, combined with the fact that for once all our direct rivals have got their house in order. You'd have to look as far back as GG and brown envelopes for the last time there was such mess and we went on a bad run.

Le fraud has always managed to close ranks and focus the players' minds at the earliest sign of trouble. He can't do that now. Don't underestimate the stench this whole farce is causing. No manager can operate under the current toxic climate and that realisation is slowly hitting home. Players can't simply close their ears and say let's get on with the football. He could always point to our non-existent title fight and the fact that top 4 never seriously came under threat last season. The protests we are doing now marching to the stadium and the media attention it's getting is nothing compared to the damp squib last season. It has taken the control away from the club and they are shitting themselves. This is why I'm not keen on doing anything inside the stadium at it always ends in a scattered mess. Better 200 people outside making a loud noise than 3,000 or whatever spread all over the place and getting drowned out by muppets.

Yep, me too. We've been here so many times before. We could easily finish 6th or 7th. We could just as easily finish top 4. :| Our problem (apart from Wenger and not enough great players) is inconsistency. We are neither consistently good or consistently bad (within the remit of the PL). We will have a run of bad results, and nothing obvious will happen to change that, but we will then have a run of good results. Never bad enough to finish mid table, but never good enough to win the PL. This happens every single year - for over a decade now.

I do agree that this "should be" the year we finally fall out the mythological Top 4 bollocks, but then I would not bet serious money on it either... :|
I have always been dismissive of suggestions that this will be the year we drop out of top 4 (and some people predict a 7th-placed finish every year) but I can't see us clawing it back this year as we've done in the past.

We look completely incapable of beating any half decent side or winning on the road at the moment. Everton, City, Leicester (currently) and United at home are all tricky games (Hammers are garbage), we very rarely win at Spurs or Stoke, and Palace and Boro are both poor sides but we won't win at either unless we play far better than we have in the last 8 games or so.

Completely agree with this. Every season up to now I've always dismissed suggestions we wouldn't get top four (alongside other less credible claims such as we'll be the lowest placed London team in the league) and allowed myself a laugh as SteveO and DB's predictions of a Spuds collapse and our flat track bully winning run come true. However, this season I'm with the naysayers. No chance we'll get top 4 this year and don't see us going on a winning run.
Wenger will still sign a new contract though!

Another factor is that the likes of City, Liverpool and United are not operating with paper thin squads who are running on empty come March/April and shit their pants at the idea of getting into the CL like Villa, Southampton, Newcastle, Spurs and even West Brom have done in the last 8 years.

That's how I see it too. Pundits have been prophesying for years how we will fail to make top 4 but the danger is real this time. Scum and Scousers are still vulnerable but they have the benefit of an easier fixture list. This is what I think it will come down to in the end. Le fraud will struggle to pick up wins to be able to go on a half decent run unless his witchdoctor has got a new trick up his sleeve. This team is shot.

Although I honestly do not really give a flying fuck whether we finish 4th, 5th or 6th, the reality is that the club have invested so much into the 4th placed trophy that they couldn't take the same approach.

Not that it would make his position untenable or anything. I don't think there's anything we can do between now and the end of the season which would take this decision out of his hands.

 Are you saying we could be a Leeds mate

Have to say though that I disagree about not affecting the descision, there surely is little doubt that our protests have upped the anti here. He wouldnt be getting the ride he is without it, certainly wouldnt be asked about banners nor would whoever have created more embarrassment by flying a second plane banner. Some of the sheepish fans are now moving against him, which by raising it has helped that move- now the BSM has issued a statement- would that have happened anyway without the protests?

Its perhaps to our (The fans as a whole) shame that we didnt do this before- accepting that the climate was different. Maybe a protest at the Hull winning parade would have made people sit up and take note- who knows. The club can only spin so far, when theyve lost the fans they have to do something (We hope)

If we do get a change of manager I am nominating MAttyB and Xisstential for MBEs 8)

No way will we make top 4 this year, in fact I'll go one better and say that we will finish at least 6 points off 4th place; look at who we have to play yet......with this team as well! Ospina in goal for the next 3 weeks, who knows what 'injuries' Sanchez, Ozil and possibly others will return from the international break with. Perez is still injured (not that he'd get a look in under Wenger,) Xhaka has at least one more red in him, and the club captain (remember him?) has yet to be wheeled out to remind us just how much slower he has got in the last 9 months. Its a total shit shower.

What is it now, 1 win in 7 games? Does anyone really believe that this team can turn that round to 6 wins in the next 7, cos that's what is going to take. By Wembley, he'll be so desperate, everyone will be questionning him, they still won't have found the 'right time' because the team will keep on losing. It will be a magnificent end, totally befitting his stuborness.

He will be remembered just like Cloughie, wanted it all, had it all, but didn't know when to say goodbye.

There are so many guys doing so much to get him out and there were guys like Armchair who was doing this long before any of us got involved. We have got to drive this relentlessly forward...and if he signs, guys need to step it up as opposed to stepping down. We are going to rub their noses in it next weekend and every game thereafter

As they used to tell us in the army "If you don't want to listen then you are going to have to feel" And the club is just not listening!!

Red Bull Salzburg vs Arsenal, Wednesday 25th July 2007

Beautiful sunny day in Austria, and we were The Arsenal...battling the commercialism of Red Bull in our beloved sport...

I made a huge banner, with NOT 4 $ALE ! written on it.

Got it into the Ground thankfully, as Red Bull were looking for anti-red bull stuff, etc., but a friendly security guard helped me in.

Was in there 2 hours before, to get a good place to put the banner.

Hung it up in our end, right down the front, to provoke the Red Bull fans, not really to send any message out to the Board, who I thought were our custodians ( yeah, don't laugh ).

Right before the start of the match, a "famous" Gooner came in and hung his banner over the NOT bit!
Won't say who he was, but he was from Kent, and was on arsenal.com a lot in the day.

I understood then that most Arsenal ( and English fans ) didn't have a clue!

You can see it here in top right corner...well, the " 4 SALE" sign that is! :banghead:

That was the beginning of the end for me.

the number of tickets available for this match and in particular the West Ham and Leicester games is staggering.

it looks like the "tourists" are starting to venture elsewhere.

Um if i remember correctly they used to tell us 'Pain is a sensation, enjoy it while it lasts.', which currently as an Arsenal supporter is quite apt

Really can't see us getting anything more than a draw out of this, but City are an inconsistent team and AW has his deal with Lucifer so fcuk knows how this match or the rest of the season will play out :rubchin:
