76 goals in 97 league appearances over the past 3 seasons. People were skeptical that Ibrahimovic's goal scoring wouldn't stand up in England but that was wrong so high hopes.

Yep. The top PL strikers have to be hitting a minimum of 20+ PL goals a season, every season. The greats will that and then also hit 25 or 30 PL goals in at least a couple seasons, usually coinciding with PL title wins. It's why I've always said we would never win the PL with Giroud or Welbeck as first choice striker in a 4-5-1 or any other formation using a loan striker and a past-it manager... :x

So? As he gets older he will spend more time injured, particularly in the contact-heavy and pacey PL.

Being a top striker is not just about skill, it's also about the psychological and physical strength, reliability and consistency to deliver the goals game after game, season after season. It's one of the few roles where stats are relevent. It's all about the number of goals you score, not the quality or the skill. Goals win titles.

Again, it's 17 goals. Not 25 or 30. There is no guarantee he would have gone on to score more if he hadn't been injured - his PL scoring slowed down in the weeks before his injury. Being reliable and available to play is vital - as we've seen with our crocks. Santi is a top class player but he is as much use to us as Coquelin in reality.

My point is - when Zlatan was signed everyone doubted goals in Ligue 1 would equal goals in EPL. Despite his age, he proved that indeed it translated. Of course he is much older - Lacazette isn't. Hence I am merely suggesting that Lacazette should be a good goal getter for us based on his record.

You are missing one vital and HUGELY influential ingredient there; Wenger. :banghead:

As a striker, it's hard to score a lot of goals if you are played in a shit system that doesn't suit your style....

...or if you are played out on the wing...
