It was a penalty. Sterling was always looking to go down and the contact was shoulder to shoulder, but Monreal also went through the back of his calves.

Monreal should never have let Sterling get ahead of him. So naive but then again what do you expect playing a bang average full back at centre half?

Fucking joke that we can only manage to name one centre half in the matchday squad away to the highest scoring side in Europe.

Don't worry mate - haven't you heard? Our genius manager intends to use Elneny there more often because he has all the attributes of a centre half apparently :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

If the attributes we want in a CB are being out of their depth at this level and lacking defensive instinct (which to be fair applies to most of the CBs Wenger signs) then he might be right!

Entirely predictable. The offside goal will give Wenger the excuse to trot out but we were well beaten. No shape, so careless on the ball, incoherent pressing strategy.

For me, City were not particularly good today and in fact were incredibly wasteful. They must have mishit four or five passes to put somebody through on goal. Their game management at 2-0 was awful. They coasted past us without being anywhere near their best.

Ozil and Sanchez both appalling. Can we start playing Wilshere please.
Fair assessment, and agree with above, but not sure Wilshere is the answer
I don’t think Wilshere is the answer either (in that he isn’t suddenly going to turn this side around) but he is miles better than the likes of Ramsey and Xhaka.

The weekend results could not have gone any worse for AFC. Tots 4 ahead, Mancs still 4 ahead, Liverpool go ahead on GD, Chavs 3 ahead, City out of sight. But not Burnley...we do draw the line somewhere, Burnley behind us on GD :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

I'm trying to think which was the most inspired of Wenger's tactical decisions today.......spoilt for choice really

1. Playing Coquelin and Xhaka together to give that real sense of steel, security and intelligent break up of play without a rash tackle in sight
2. Start with Iwobi and Ramsey, who demonstrated so clearly how much better they are than Wilshere, never surrendering play unnecessarily, always picking the right pass and never dwelling unduly on the ball
3. Bringing on Joe L'Average, watching him score, and then promptly relegating him to right midfield to accommodate the Lamppost

Pure genius from the Great Man :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
yeah that 30 years in football really pays off, tactically inept as usual :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

And good old Everton have done us a favour too, beating our mega rich north London rivals Watford with a stirring comeback. Keeps them 4 points below us I believe. The Thursday night dreams are still alive

Is that correct 11 league defeats so far in 2017?

4 defeats in first 6 away games. The worst record since 1981.......still as Ivan would tell you, we're making great progress !

I make it 10 - 4 this season and 6 last.
Yet apparently there is no one better than Wenger... :banghead:

Makes the up coming game at Turf Moor a real 6 pointer. Just so relieved we moved from Highbury
