How do Celtics invincibles compare to ours?

Post by CloakedGooner »

Just saw Celtic lost today for the first time in 69 games. Just wondered what peoples thoughts are when comparing it to ours? Is it better cos its longer? Or does the one sidedness of that league make it mean less? Just curious to hear what you guys think?

You just cant compare it to ours.there a good team Celtic and fair play to them for being so focused but the calibre of the opposition especially after Celtic have just signed there best player from the previous season and the financial clout that they have over every other team in Scotland make it non comparable

Brendon Rogers talks a lot about the financial differences when involved in the champs league but never mentions it when playing domestically

Shit football, shit league, shit clubs who only fill the grounds for games against the Old Firm (the Old Firm themselves included). The only thing you could possibly commend them for is that they kept their focus for so long without getting complacent.

They're a set of bitter c.unts anyway after the way they went on about the Eduardo "dive". Jock bin dippers with their self styled "greatest fans in Europe".

There league maybe poor but a few on here reckon the premier league shit and non competitive as well.

To go that long unbeaten is definitely an achievement despite what your personal opinion on them is and I have no love for the want-to-be oirish.

Their league is beyond poor. They used to have Rangers as their rivals, but they haven't been up to anything in the last few years. They are in a league in which the only question to be answered every season, is how much Celtic will win the title by. The PL is shit, but back when we went unbeaten, Ferguson was at united, Chelsea were in their 1st year of Abramovich's money and L'pool won the CL, the season after, so there was actual competitive teams. Celtic's so called achievement is just further proof of how shit Scottish football is, where as our achievement was something that I never thought was possible.

We should be more worried about City tbh. They have blown everyone away this season.

I am concerned that they could eclipse our 2004 season, not only by going undefeated but smashing through 100 points in the process. If ever there was an incentive to stop them, it has to be when they play us at home in Feb.

You simply cannot compare the two. The SPL is the weakest "recognised top flight" league in Europe. The PL is not as sooooper top quality as SlySports try to make out, but it is still the most competitive league in the world in that any team on its day can beat any other team through sheer grit and determination if nothing else. Far far tougher to go unbeaten in the PL than any other top flight league.

TBH I don't think they'll do it. They have been very lucky so far with no major injuries, every player on form, and sometimes just outscoring other teams to hide their own defensive deficiencies. It's a long hard PL season and people forget that the team we had in 04 with a beautiful balance of skill, technique, flair, guts, determination and grit actually limped across the finishing line to go unbeaten because they were exhausted both physically and mentally.

Everyone is wánking themselves into a coma a little early over the "greatest PL team ever" (© SkySports).  I reckon they will get beaten at least once before the end of the season.

Us beating them in Feb would be typical of this Wenger team tbh. A one-off style game (almost like a cup final in a way), nothing really to play for by then, no real pressure, we raise our game and go at them - I could see it happening and it would be the kind of win that will fuel the AKB's love for their Messiah because "He stopped citeh being like the Invincibles".

A simple question to put it in perspective: If their 'invincibles' played our Invincibles, what do you think the score would be?
