The useless Lyth is out; lbw bowled Hazlewodd for 12, and England waste a review. His place must seriously be under scrutiny now, if it wasn’t already.

England need a further 66 to win, and here comes Root who gets off the mark with a four thanks to a rank long-hop.

England 55 - 2.

Ian Bell adds to his 50 from the first innings with another half-century in the second.

England win by eight wickets. :barscarf:

Bell finished on 65 and Root 38 and they saw England home after the early loss of Cook & Lyth. If Anderson hadn’t injured himself I’d make England favourites at Trent Bridge, but without him, I’m not so sure.

I reckon it’ll be a choice between Woakes, Wood & Plunkett for the replacement slot.

I would say this series is unpredictable, but it isn't really. Since the second Windies Test it's been win, lose, win, lose, win , lose , win. So England to take the series 3-2. :barscarf:

In all seriousness though, losing Jimmy is a huge blow which could be series deciding. Hope Broad steps up to the mark at his home ground next week. Delighted to see Finn come back so well too. I believe he could yet be one of England's best ever

Anderson may well have devastated at Trent Bridge where it always hoops around - huge loss.

I think Lyth has to go. May have a future at international level yet (and certainly earned his shot) but he looks well out of his depth in this series and his replacement can't do much worse. I'm not convinced about Hales' pedigree at Test level generally but then again somebody like Stokes would never traditionally be thought of as a Test batsman and he has done okay. Sticking Hales in to open in the last two Tests may give England the shot in the arm they need at the top of the order.

Great win.

I got my e-visa for Oz this week.
I'm off there for three months at the end of Dec.
So yeah, I hope to be doing that flash.
