Hope for a really good contest.

Neagative point: The ground for the first test doesn't look up to much.

But, with some new blood in the England side and the old aussie adversaries, should always be something to talk about at least.

Absolutely disaml start; Bell's just been given out to a ball that was going leg-side but he didn't review it.

We're already 3 down. :cussing:

Great start from the Aussies.

Hawkeye says Bell’s decision would have been umpire’s call if he had reviewed. My eyes say that’s bollocks but I suppose that’s why I’m not an umpire.

We are all over the shop.

Root's playing some lovely stuff now, he looks like he has blossomed into a fine player.

On a sour note, I've always been a fan of Ian Bell but I am worried that his recent tripe form with the bat may not be a slump and might instead be the early signs of terminal decline.

Even Giry Billince is scoring now.

This time they are, Augie! :D

I think Ireland's team has a right assortment that would put quality street to shame

Nice innings so far from Root (with Ballance playing the role of grinding support man), scoring fairly quickly. He will need to convert this into a big 100 though to give England a decent target to defend.

So whats with playing the ashes in Cardiff then ? As well as having no players of your own, are ye now telling me that England has no ground capable of holding the game ?

Tea 190 - 3

Ballance 59* Root 93*

Decent recovery from England after an absolute shocker of a start.

It's the main reason I lost interest. At one point I think we had 4 or 5 South Africans in the team.

How can you be interested in your national team when they're not your nationals playing??? (Irish football supporters have many years of experience and may be able to throw some light on this)
