"Greg Lake: King Crimson and ELP star dies aged 69"
One of the founding fathers of progressive rock, the British musician is known for songs including In the Court of the Crimson King and his solo hit I Believe in Father Christmas.
He died on Wednesday after "a long and stubborn battle with cancer", said his manager.
The news comes nine months after Lake's band-mate Keith Emerson died.
Rest In Peace Greg and "Thank You" for the amazing music....Poet and an amazing singer songwriter
I am choked.

Sad loss. Not really my taste in music but he was a very talented musician. RIP.OneBardGooner wrote:He was 15 years of age when he wrote this:

Now Rick Parfitt joins the list. Not one of the greatest perhaps but rock and roll personified. Saw Quo a lot in the early 70's and they were always good value. Sadly missed.

It would seem 2016 ain't finished with taking a few more rock n rollers...
Rick Parfitt - Once one of the Wild Men of rock - survived major heart/by-pass surgery some years back....So his time on earth was always going to be limited. Met him twice after S.Quo gigsback in the late 70's (along with the rest of Quo) he was a very friendly, down to earth bloke for a rock star.......I bet heaven is rockin' tonight!
RIP

RIP Rick Parfitt...I was at the Quo gig in Liverpool on December 23rd. Astounded he died.
RIP George Michael. Great talent, great singer and entertainer. So sad.
5 days left of this awful year, can't wait for it to end.

2017 Could be even worse. Anyone who grew up in the 60s, 70s and 80s I think are going to see a lot of their heroes passing away,
Carrie Fisher, Brucie, Kirk Douglas, Her Majesty and Duke of Edinburgh are not looking to smart at the moment

Neither are Two of my Musical heroes and muses.. Neil Young (been very ill) as has Joni Mitchell, I hope I am completely wrong, but as you say Rosie those of the 70's & 80's are at that age.

Has truly been a tragic year for celebrities, but i can remember 20 years or so ago my old man talking about celebs passing in a similar way, might have been less noticeable because the whole culture of celebrity was different back then as was the reporting in the media but as mentioned for those of us of a certain age i'll expect next year to be no better
