Re: The players
With the benefit of hindsight, that day was mostly about Chelsea underperforming and Conte struggling to work out the best system for his players. And of course, it's perfectly normal for our players to look like world-beaters at the tail end of summer but be anonymous at crunch time.dano wrote:just curious how a group that ran Chelsea off the field in a very good home win, to become a group of bottlers. Tactical writer, Jonathan Wilson wrote that the title was probably decided that day at HT when Conte went to a back three. The difference between Conte and Wenger is that when it goes wrong for Arsenal, Wenger just persists with the same "tactics" ( ) and formation and waits for it to turn round. Conte looked at what happened to Chelsea against Liverpool and in that first-half against Arsenal and decided that changes had to be made quickly.
And remember in that game, all our goals came in the first half. After Conte made the change, we didn't add any more goals.
