As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Well remembered Rob. I've used Lupoli so many times, as an example of the many young players that were " The next big thing" but were anything but the next big thing. Wenger talked Lupoli up as a world beater, before flogging him off to a third rate Italian club.

And the common factor with all of these duds is . . . . . . . . . . ???????
those guys were the talk of the town .... akpom fast preparing to join the list
Eddie looks very good, I hope that his development isnt rushed like wally or take the same path. Wenger aside many have not capitalised on their opportunities at Arsenal or any other club
that list could easily be multiplied by a factor of 5
dont forget the
cant mention sunnu and leave out Eastmond or Freeman

Lansbury
Zelalem was the Ozil in the making.....
Who remembered that Yaya Toure was given a trial and didnt make the cut
And yet another promising thread turns into a Wenger bashing fest
Yes mate!
I just happened to mention Peter Marinello and a Wikipedia of Wengers shit signings comes up....
At least Bertie only had a couple of shit signings other one being Ian Ure....
Arsenal will offer 18-year-old striker Eddie Nketiah a new five-year contract that will take his weekly pay from £2,000 to £15,000. (Sun)
And there you have it in one sentence - everything that is wrong about modern football. Fair play to the lad, he comes off the bench and nets a double against a knackered Norwich side from the play off zone of the Championship........and that's worth more than a 7x pay rise to the type of salary that an executive of a FTSE 100 company would command
Not sure if there is a thread dedicated to him but I think this lad will be a star.
He'll be playing for Ipswich reserves within 5 years
Just like all the others we've listed. Once Nketiah gets his ridiculous pay rise (2k a week to £15k for scoring 2 goals) he will go exactly the same way.
The rotten culture at Arsenal, where coming 4th is seen as success, will see him drift along through a succession of flash cars, a succession of dopey girlfriends, the occasional first team appearance before floating off on a few loan deals to Charlton, Cardiff, Ipswich etc where he will piss everybody off with his Billy Big Bollocks attitude cos he played 4 games for Arsenal.
Just like all the others we've listed . . . . . . .
TBH I'd be amazed if he makes it as a top player. Not a slight on him or his ability, but rather we all know what Wenger will do to him - he will "coach" the adventure, the hunger and the individuality out of him.
You know, a lot of people forget what the Ox and Walcott were actually like when we signed them from the Saints. Both were pacey, exciting, adventurous young players that loved to bomb forward, dribble, cut in and shoot, take oppo players on... fast forward a few years and both had become tepid, insular, negative, short-passing drones with no sense of adventure - the typical Arsene Wenger Modern Arsenal footballer in fact.
If this thread is turned into another anti wenger rantfest then I'm sure a full-size mod will be along any minute to merge it

You have fonder memories of Theo than most.He was shit at dribbling from the off, his terrible first touch, second and third touch usually meant that a dribble was always on the verge of ending badly, overrun the ball or just fall over..He rarely seemed to be in total control of the ball. Can blame Wenger for an awful lot but don't think Theo was ever goin to make a top player.Signing him was probably the big mistake.
