THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Ding dong the Witch is dead! (Metaphorically speaking of course) Can't believe it. Mate relayed news to my other half and requested a video of me doing cartwheels......I duly obliged! Several Robbie dog breath Keanes later and my arse is killing me! Great feeling tempered with sadness that I should feel this way but f**k it, he's put us through the mill and took a lot of love out of the club for so many so best of luck Arsene, take your barely deserved last 10 million and go have a life.

If it's Ancelotti or Enrique, hopefully, they won't.

fucking state of the comments on Untold Arsenal

take this one for example:
It would be weird to see Arsenal without Arsene Wenger.

I’ve only known Arsene Wenger as Arsenal’s manager. I’m not sure if I am an Arsenal fan or an Arsene Wenger fan. If the board appoints Mourinho, for example, as the next manager, would I still be a passionate Arsenal fan? I’m not really sure!

hopefully those sort of Arsenal fans run off and support another club now.

I DREAMED OF THIS DAY FOR SO LONG :barscarf:

Not ashamed to admit I had a littlie cry for myself......so so happy.
The euphoria is almost, almost, on a par with a certain night in May 1989..... almost....
I( have more of a buzz from this than I have had when we have won the last couple of cup wins

Just heard, fuck me I'm buzzing more than when we won our last few trophies!! He says the decision was made 'after discussions with the club', he's been told to go, finally!! This gives me hope because at last the club have some ambition and have done what was desperately needed!
It's a perfect 'Coup d'etat'!!

Remember the date, it's the day Arsenal Football Club were reborn!! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

I need to say this and go agianst the great majority but it's time for Wenger to go. I'm tired of his stuborn attitude towards transfers and the costant refusal to sort out contracts before the time, for not building on our strongest team. We are always playing catch up replacing players lost and have never truly replaced the defence and midfield of old.

We need change I would love wenger just to get a proper keeper of which we have not had since Seaman. Why does he refuse to buy experience even if it's for a few seasons?

We had the best out of Wenger time for change. Now we need to get a billionare takeover and a new manager. Even if Wenger had the money he would still be getting kids and unknowns. I'm tired of unknowns with potential give me names to get excited about. Not since Bergkamp have a felt that thrill from a signing and excitement that the paying fans deserve.

Thank you Arsene for giving me the best years of Arsenal but it's time for a new beggining. You can only re-build teams a number of times before you start ruining the foundations and I fear that is whats happening to the club we love. :(
10 years later you finally have your wish!! You were a man ahead of your time and i say kudos to you 8)

I can't believe it! It's finally happening :barscarf:

Thank you for the first eight years, but fuck you very much for the last ten years, Arsene. He should have left in 2008 or been sacked by 2011, but thankfully this era of deliberate stagnation after Dein's departure is over. It will finally be exciting to see what happens next. Hopefully no more frustrating slow sideways passing to eventual failure, no more park level defending, no more forwards who square it instead of shooting on goal. The ball and chain will finally be removed!

Hopefully this is not a cruel trick to test the water. Will it be better if Cashburton remains empty, to make it clear that he is not wanted, or will it be better if we suddenly have full houses until the end of the season? IMO, he has lost the right to a 'good send-off' a long time ago. I don't think I'll bother with any league games until the last one. Winning the Europa would be nice, but TOF could never win European trophies. Seeing the media eulogize about him for the next month will be pretty nauseating, even if they tacitly admit that post-Invincibles he was nothing special and his changing of philosophy to this shite Barca-lite way was for the worse. He won't be getting any offers from Real Madrid now, that's for sure. He won't like international management as he likes the day to day of club life, but that'll be the best he could get in Europe, only the Chinese would be mad enough to hire him for a club job, unless he manages a French pub side.

It'll be interesting to see who the new manager is. Obviously he will have a tough job to clean up the shit that TOF will left behind; an unbalanced squad, overpaid players, over-rated and uncoached pubber youths and the inane Socialist Wage Structure. Damningly, who the new man is actually matters less than simply getting TOF out. Ancellotti or Allegri would be fine. Simeone would be great, but a pipe-dream. PV4 at least knows the club and was a warrior in the vein of TA6. A long-term manager would be fine if he is winning or is clearly doing his best against the sheikhs and oligarchs. No-one can be allowed to hold the club in the palm of his hand like this ever again.

ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Most of us have waited so so long for this. I have a permanent smile on my face, I am SO happy! It could well take years to put things right but I genuinely don't care because this club was in reverse and was speeding up. It was ESSENTIAL for Wonga to go, to start moving in the right direction and we can do this. It's a great move by the club to announce it now, it will bring the fans back, improve the atmosphere and give us a better chance of winning the Europa and therefore let the new guy (please let it be a top top manager) win the CL in his first season!

What a day!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

One thing that tickled me was the fact he even managed to play Wenger Bingo in his own goodbye speech!

"Values" made an appearance right at the very end! :barscarf:

What a day!
