Getting used for a better contract by a 17 year old is classic Arsenal. It will take years to shake off the Wenger from this club.

Best DM in memory, Makelele, was 5'6.

Lads like Sokratis will deal with the aerial battles.

Best DM by a mile was PV14. Pace, power, athletism, ability to shield the back 4 turn defence into attack, run with the ball. He had the lot. Ohh and he was 6ft plus.

Vieira was not a DM. He was a box to box CM.

It would appear that Vieira himself disagrees. A box to box midfielder is someone like Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard, both of whom scored a lot more than Vieira.

Paddys job was to break down attacks, shield the defence and start attacks, not get ahead of the strikers on the end of them.

It would be a mistake to get rid of Iwobi. He has raw talent and serious pace. I have been frustrated in the past due to his poor ability in front of goal, but selling him would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

New managers, new starts. Xhaka is another is I think would do well under Emery. And rather than selling these players, keep them, & give them competition = deeper bench, and more competition for places fueling desire for improvement.

Wengers biggest weakness was complacency, and that turned good players average. A lot of players are going to be different under Emery.

Putting aside my view that Iwobi has the illusion of great pace, what raw talent does he have? He can’t dribble, dreadful touch, zero intelligence to his movement, average passer and can’t finish. Seriously this bloke wouldn’t get a look in at any other PL club, he is so average.
