The Guardian say #Arsenal have agreed a £26.4m (€30m) deal to sign the Lucas Torreira & were discussing personal terms with the midfielder's representatives in Milan today. https://t.co/FzUj3ARIJ3

He looks like a really nasty little fucker.

Price tag will appeal to the club. £26m is a pretty modest fee these days.

In a nice way!

Takes no prisoners but seems to have some good skills as well. Xhaka take note.

Footage looks like he times his tackles well and stays on his feet , like that.

I would have preferred Butland if true

He's fucking awful. The depressing thought of him as backup to Cech all season.

Will this club ever sign a world class keeper?

Daily Fail are reporting it too. Paying in instalments over some years. WTF  :banghead:

Torreira is the type of player Wenger refused to sign and was never willing to sign. Exactly what we've needed for ages in the middle of the park but Le Fraud wasn't having it; probably because it would prove all the critics right and him wrong.

Would Torreira be our first ever Uruguayan?

Yes. He's playing style has been described as a hybrid of Vidal and Veratti.

We have had small DM's in the past (flamoney and diarra for starters) and they just dont work out in this league - people continue to look at surface level when assessing kante and they w*nk themselves silly over him, but I will continue to say that kante is not capable of dictating the midfield area without a physical presence alongside him. Personally I would be more inclined to sign n'zonzi

Both Flamini and Diarra did well in the premier league. :?

Also, what about Roy Keane, Dennis Wise, Mascherano, De Jong, Makelele, etc?

Being a good DM has a lot more to do with positioning, intelligence, tackling skills, discipline, reading of the game than height.

Give me little Kanté over big Fellaini any day of the week.

If flamoney and diarra did so well, then why is it universally accepted that we havent had a quality player in the position since PV4 ? Flamoney was second rate at best.

You point to wise but forget that he too played alongside some real physical team-mates who done the rough stuff for him. Even ignoring that, wise was only a sneaky dirty c.unt and wasnt a good player. With the exception of de jong, there isnt one player on the list of players you gave, that was big and physical enough to carry the midfield on his own - the others all had players alongside them that were able for the tougher side of the game, but our midfield is full of weakly fcukers who will be fcuk all use to our DM when the going gets tough.

The majority of transfers are in instalments, it's a sensible move if our funds are limited to buy in other areas as well.
