FA Community Shield: Arsenal v Man City 4pm Sunday 6/8/2023

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Very good from us tbh. City had a 'good' 15mins with possession but created diddly squat. We've grown and have looked the better team. Should be leading but should also be happy we are making City look ordinary. Without KDB they are half the team of last season.
I'd like to see Trossard for Martinelli second half and Eddie for Havertz, his speed and energy will put City on their toes

Not watching or listening to the game, so how is Gareth Barry v2.0 getting on?

Havertz proving why Chelsea were glad to see the back of him
1st half contribution

Missed 2 goals and been booked
Have had Chelsea mates texting me saying thanks for the £65 million
Two chances but neither were nailed on. Everyone at Chavski was shite last year. We can’t judge him on 45 minutes. At least he got in the position to score which isn’t bad given that he isn’t a striker.
Ok so why are we playing him as a striker?
If that’s the best we got then that isn’t really good enough is it?

I think City care this time as they want the psychological advantage of beating us. Exactly the same as we do. It lays down a marker for the season.

Bookings in this game don’t count towards the regular season.
