Announcement by Arsenal FC.
Re: Announcement by Arsenal FC.
I don't see how this helps. Before VAR that goal would have been given. All this does is give the impression that Arsenal are so arrogant (like the Victims*) that the goal should be chalked off. Down the years, Arsenal have scored many a goal that would have been disallowed had VAR been in place. And worse still, it was dropping a single point. Not the European Cup final or FA Cup Final or losing 2 points due to an equaliser. I trust that if Arsenal are the beneficiaries of a dubious goal later in the season, Arteta says similar, but I won't hold my breath.
PS I can imagine referees will now be looking to deny Arsenal goals and gives goals against when in doubt. And forget all those fifty fifty penalty calls.
PPS it is deflection by Arteta because he knows as well as I do that Raya was wholly responsible. Had he dealt with the cross, no push, no offside, no goal.

Re: Announcement by Arsenal FC.
Agree with augie if he is talking about our attack. Eddie is a Championship striker at best. Saka has been shite for months. Even Martinelli who i rate highly has very little end product despite huge effort.rodders999 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:56 pmCan’t agree that we were awful Augie. there, stood up to their bully boy tactics and more than deserved a 0-0 only for the loss to be manufactured against us by blatant corruption/incompetence.
A midfield of Jorgihno, Havertz and Rice bossed the game and the two centre backs were imperious.
Attack wise we were limp dick for sure, Saka was piss poor again and Eddie well out of his depth as is well known - but without a host of sick notes who could have made us a bigger attacking threat we did not deserve to lose that game.
I’ll probably go down in flames for this at some
point in the future but I don’t think we’ll ever see as bad a decision as that again. 3 legitimate reasons to disallow the goal within 5 seconds of each other and all ignored.
If any one of them had happened in isolation I’d have lost my shit but for all 3 in one sequence?
Fuck me I’m apoplectic
I deffo agree with every word rodders has typed here.
We were fucking robbed.

Newcastle are without doubt one of THE most defensive teams in the premier league - their whole mindset is to not concede in games against the big teams, so restricting them to fcuk all chances is easier to do then and I've been saying for a long while that they (the geordies) will never kick on until they start to believe they can beat big teams.
I never said that we deserved to lose - I also said that their goal should have been disallowed three times over. I am fed up watching us looking slow and toothless going forward - I knew all along that this season would see a big drop off, but I still expected us to attack with the same energy and gusto that we seen so much last season, but what we are seeing is basically shit one paced crap
Re: Announcement by Arsenal FC.
I would suggest you give it a try. I have done it for a year (unpaid as it happens) and it is very difficult to get it right all the time. Last week I missed a foul as there were players obstructing my view and a goal was scored at the end of the game. No matter the score was 0-4, and I pretty much called everything else right, all anyone was talking about was the fourth goal.augie wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:38 pmI have attended local league meetings where they preach about having respect for referee's and I have pointed out that that is a two way street, and the reality is that referee's at every level are paid for their time and with that pay should come a right to a certain level of performance - it is the only profession in the world that I know that people are expected to hand over money, and when the person receiving the money has a shocker, there are no consequences and people are expected to accept it.
Even more ridiculous is players (and fans) not knowing the laws of the game and disputing decisions that a referee is obliged to make. One example is I had a missed penalty kick retaken because a defender stood on the side of the area in front of the penalty spot. The laws are clear, yet there was an argument about it until someone kindly came up with law in black and white on their phone. The re-taken penalty was scored.
I have no desire to referee at a higher level. Surprised anyone would.

Re: Announcement by Arsenal FC.
At the amateur level I've always tried to be respectful to referees on the pitch as a player. It's a tough and thankless job no doubt. I've seen some terrible shit go on too with refs insulted, chased off the pitch and even assaulted by so called spectators and players.arrgee wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 10:30 pmI would suggest you give it a try. We even had a ref shelter with us in our dressing room at a *notorious Dublin club's ground while a mob of players, their families, friends, and even just local knacker scum passing by tried to get in to give us the kicking of our lives, while we baracaded the door. A hastily called police escort got us out of that one.
*anyone that has played amateur football in Dublin will most likely know what club I'm talking about.
I have no idea why anyone would want to be ref at that level mate so fucking fair play to you!
Re: Announcement by Arsenal FC.
I only do it because there are so few referees. I’m not qualified (hence unpaid). I did a basic primer course and I fill in while the big time Charlie referees (friends of mine, who dragged me into it) take the big games. On the whole, the teams are just glad to play as games would not take place if I didn’t turn up. And they get I’m only there to make it happen. Pretty poor level of football, truth be told. So easy enough to officiate and not get much wrong.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 10:47 pmAt the amateur level I've always tried to be respectful to referees on the pitch as a player. If I did get abuse, I would just walk away. Mid-game if need be.

I actually think it may help us. We have accepted shit, incorrect calls from VAR for too long now and by raising it publicly, any other VAR or ref errors, certainly short term, are going to be very high profile and make it look like there IS a problem with Arsenal and VAR/referees.
The reason wankers like Neville and Spit the Scouse are having a go at us is, they know we'll possibly get a few 50/50 calls now and they hate it. There'll be a few more mouthpieces saying the same soon, expect the likes of Collymore and Adrian Durham chipping in with the 'sore losers' bit........ But I do think it may help us

Re: Announcement by Arsenal FC.
I understand the anger over the goal being given and frankly, the officials are fucking idiots, because with three very real question marks over the goal, there was always going to be a storm if it was given. If I were the VAR official I'd have taken a pragmatic approach and called the foul on Gabriel. There was clearly two hands on his back and enough of a push to rule the goal out and avoid the controversy over the other two points.
However, I agree with Augie that this furore allows Arteta to get without a forensic analysis of how poor we are and the bad decisions he's made and continues to make. I won't repeat what we all know about Jorginho, Havertz (a fucking unforgivable signing) and Eddie, plus Saka not doing it and Martinelli working hard but not taking his man on (has he been told not to?) etc, but it's alarming how poorly we're playing. Slow, boring, across and backwards crap, with no high tempo and a lack of movement up front. It's the last 10 years of the Old Fraud all over again.
What was telling was that the goal was scored around 65 mins and after the VAR fiasco, restarted on 70 mins. On top of that there were 8 mins injury time. So we're chasing a game at only 1-0 down with half an hour left to play and I honestly cant recall a serious effort on goal or their keeper having to make a save. Not one serious attempt on goal in 28 mins when we are 1-0 down. Tells you all you need to know about what's wrong with the side.

DON'T WATCH SLYSPORTS TODAY.
Your fucking head will explode. Nothing to see here. "Not conclusive" is the mantra.
And apparently its OK for Liverpool* to complain but us doing it is "distasteful".

1. The Bruno incident - "he used his forearm and not his elbow so all ok" - when did I miss that memo?
2. "No conclusive image to show the ball out of play" - wait what? You just showed an image 5 seconds ago that clearly showe it out
3. The 2 handed shove in the back was not a foul because "Gabriel was already going down"
4. Not conclusive it's offside because there's no image of when Joelinton made contact with the ball - the image of him handling it not good enough no??
You'll never see that level of corruption again and the cover up is just a big a disgrace.

Bald vagina Dermot Gallagher saying a forearm smash to the head is only a yellow card was fucking disgusting. Violent conduct is violent conduct whether you hit someone with your foot, elbow, head, arm, forearm or fist ffs.rodders999 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 11:51 amI've been deliberately going out of my way to avoid it - the discourse since Saturday evening has been absolutely sickening.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 11:42 amDON'T WATCH SLYSPORTS TODAY.

Anyone seen the image of the push on Gabriel taken through the goal net? Clear as day.
Re: Announcement by Arsenal FC.
Cheated at Newcastle ....not even a question
As for the game we have lost our way...look so different to last season despite adding Rice
Fucking about with the defence and goalkeeping positions.....raya looks poor to me
No real striker to score the goals
Ben white has more interest in colouring his fuckin hair than playing for the Arsenal
Zinchenko the inverted left back....which leaves acres of space when he goes into midfield
As for chav rejects georginho and havertz.....disgrace they are even at our great club...havertz in particular is a curious one...how many more shit games can he have before the penny drops with arteta
nekitah and viera just not up to standard
was dreaming last season they could kick on and get that title....sadly that looks as distant as ever now

No coincidence how all the No Mark Wannabe's who are riding the Sly & Media Gravy Train; because they somehow imagine their opinions matter
are all trying to slag off THE Arsenal.
Anyone with an iota of Intelligence and Honest Moral Fibre knows that We were Cheated out of at least (and most probably) a draw on Saturday...We all know that Spit The Scouser can't wait to try and stick the knife in, same goes for Podgy Dwarf Owen; the same self-righteous prick who suddenly became invisible in and on the media when his slag daughter hit the Rags front pages for being an attention multi-cock-sucking whore....And then the bent as a five pound note McNulty who seems to think because he works for the BBC (Those protectors of Paedophile Rings in their own ranks and High Offices of Government) can say something that only fools would deem to have any significance...And all this because the new media darlings the one and only No Mark Small-time club (*) from the North who in truth are the New Stoke City (with Dodgy Owners & Money)... who since being bought by said Dodgy Owners have become 'Self-Entitled' and because they have players who are more able to foul, kick the opposition and surround the ref, when a proper team attempts to beat them by playing Foot-ball ... they get Hostile...I am looking forward to their Trophy Drought Continuing for many more years to come, whilst their delusional light-bulb worshipping fans cry foul every time a decision goes against them and then take to Social media to try and make out they were treated un-fairly and that they are a Big Club... Like Fuck They Are.

That's the big question Red and it will tell us if what many of us believe to be true, is actually true.
It was a completely baffling decision to sign an unmitigated, 3 year flop and a criminal waste of £65m, but I would have more respect for Arteta if he said that it isn't working and offloaded the poor sod, even at an inevitable massive loss. I'd still be fucking furious, but I could accept it and move on.
Unfortunately, what many of us believe to be true is that Arteta's stubborn arrogance will kick in and just like his mentor, he'll refuse to admit he's made a mistake. This situation with Havertz is gonna run and run. He won't start every game, just as he isn't now, but he'll start enough and get plenty of game time off the bench. This is a huge test for Arteta, because Havertz isn't suddenly going to come good, he's proper crap, so El Basque is going to be judged on how he handles the chronic mess he's created.
