Continental suspensions make Shawcross ban look pathetic

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Continental suspensions make Shawcross ban look pathetic

Post by Cloggs »

You could add this one;

26 Rachid Bouaouzan- Wigan

Wigan's website ofcourse doesn't tell that this "very quick and dangerous winger" was sentenced by Dutch High Court in 2006 to a suspended jail sentence of 6 months for a tackle in a Dutch Premier Division match on dec. 17th 2004 that cleaved the leg of Niels Kokmeijer in two. After 5 surgeries, Kokmeijer finally had to end his career.

Bouaouzan recieved a 10 match ban from the Dutch FA and an additional ban for the rest of that season from his club Sparta Rotterdam.
While the discplicinary case for compensation is still on, the dutch FA decided that Sparta/Bouaouzan had to pay 100.000 euro in advance to Kokmeijer, regardless the outcome.

He was sold to Wigan in aug 2007. His on loan to NEC Nijmegen in the 2008/09 season was ended for "disciplinary reasons" by NEC.
