Yesterday I thought of a perfectly obtainable winger who is an infinitely better then Walnutt:

it looked like he had no "confidence" in his ability, and he's right....he has no ability....after a few same old feo fumble runs and crap crosses to no one, he didn't want the ball AT ALL!!!....could'nt wait to "get rid of it" so he could melt and hide behind the manc defenders...you can't make a silk purse out of a pigs bollock..it will not happen he's not a footballer for the millionth time....85k???.. no, too far...stick to the 100metres

a good win yesterday with 10 men walcott was yet again missing in action

I've said before and I'll say again, all the guy can do is run and shoot. Playing him on the wing makes no sense at all. Next season we need to have offloaded Chamakh and Park and have Theo and Podoski as backup to Robin, let Chamblerlain play on the wing then.

Walcott interview with the Standard
I would like to be more aggressive in matches and the manager has said that to me. Not by kicking people but by running at players. That’s the main improvement I need to make. When I play my best football, I am aggressive and not afraid of getting hurt. I am not afraid to put a foot in and that’s what he wants.

I set myself a target and always say three successful crosses and a couple of shots in a game and that’s good. If you get a corner, it’s an end product for the team, the same with free-kicks, anything like that.

Three crosses and two shots is "good"?

Walcott used his pace to get us the penalty and the early red card. He then finished off a good one two to make the three points safe. Hey but don't forget he was a twat last night :? :?

The criticism he gets is well over the top. He has taken a step forward this year and can progress into an important Arsenal player. Stats can't be over relied upon but they can't be dismissed as irrelevant either. Theo has made some important contributions this year. He needs to stay, as does RVP.

How many times have we seen Arsenal fail to break down a stubborn away defence? Walcott undid it twice in the first eleven minutes to make the points safe and still the usual suspects slaughter him  Can we stop with the Statler and Waldorf auditions?

Can he cross the ball any better ?

Can he dribble past opposition players any better ?

Does he make more of an effort to get involved in games especially when the chips are down ?

Is he worth 75k+ per week ?

I believe that the answers to all these questions is a resounding no, so making throwaway comments about the usual suspects slaughtering him doesnt really apply imo. The ox is still very raw but he can dribble past players, he can cross the ball and most importantly he never stops trying for the team and I would much rather put my faith in the ox for the future than commit financial suicide to a player that will only ever be peripheral in our club

Agree with CC here. Yes, Walcott will never be a 'world-beater' but he's still a decent player and gets far too much stick in my opinion. He never wins headers and doesn't challenge for the ball (from when I've seen him in the flesh) but he does score goals and lays them on for others.

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't I'm afraid, Arsenal's very own Mr Marmite.

For once in my life I am going to disagree with Augie. Walcott is not Robbie or Freddy but he won the game for us last night. He is a great impact player. For me he should be super sub. Bring him on with 20 mins to go, against a tired FB and create a last minute goal or occupy the defence.

Let's be honest nobody is worth the stupid money footballers get.
