Coventry

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I can't ever remember Arsenal playing on a Friday before. Come to that, I can't remember anyone from the top flight playing on a Friday.

Gentlemen!!

I give you Friday 26th May 1989. A night to remember!! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Fabianski, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Gnabry, Podolski, Bendtner

Subs: Viviano, Sagna, Monreal, Zelalem, Flamini, Cazorla, Giroud

Going for it, then.

We had three Friday home games in the Invincible season.. Newcastle won 3-2...Liverpool won 4-2 and Leeds won 5-0. The Newcastle game was on Friday because we were in Kiev on the Tuesday, The Liverpool game was Good Friday Morning as we were playing catch up on fixtures...not sure why the Leeds game was on a Friday. The Liverpool game was the pivotal game in the invincible season, it came on the back of FA Cup Semi Final and Champions League quarter Final defeats. . We went behind twice in the game and Highbury was anxious as there was a danger that the Treble dream would be gone in a week. Thankfully TH14 destroyed them in the second half and the rest is history.

Surprised Ozil is starting, otherwise pretty much as I expected-other than not realising Vermaelen is injured

your first option probably.

i'm interested to see how Ox does starting at central midfield with little game time since his injury. Could get tired real quick.
