Well "nigger" just comes from "Negroe" which is the legimitate name of a race
I take a similar track to g88ner, i realise there is no religious or racial hate behind the word when used in a spurs context so i dont reproach anyone for it, but i dont really use the word myself.
I don't generally call them that but I have no issue with anyone doing so really. If they call themselves it you can hardly be criticised for doing so.
It's a bit like Alan Kelly really. His actual name is Jackeen Cuntscuttle and that's how most people would refer to him. I don't have a problem with that either

I agree. In Holland we have the same situation with Ajax Amsterdam. Their supporters have been calling themselves jews for many years because they had jewish players during the Second World War. Many fans from other teams call Ajax-fans jews as well.
A few months ago, Ajax played an away game against ADO from The Hague. ADO won the game and afterwards two players and coach John van den Brom (a former Ajax player) went to the supporters home to celebrate. One of the players (Lex Immers) started a song about 'hunting the jews' and one of their fans filmed it and uploaded it on YouTube. The player was banned for a few games, but especially Van den Brom was criticized because he should have stopped Immers singing that song.
Earlier this month Ajax won the league and as always the whole stadium was singing 'joden, joden!' That's similar to the '**** army' from Sp*rs. Even the board members who criticized Van den Brom were jumping and celebrating while their supporters were singing about jews. On Monday Van den Brom was a guest in a football tv show and he said how hypocrite that was. The whole audience started clapping, they all agreed with him.
