eto/henry skysports news

I wudnt be too upset if this came true!

Barcelona have offered Samuel Eto'o to Arsenal as a makeweight for Thierry Henry, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish daily Marca claims Barca are ready to part with the Cameroonian striker plus €25million (£17million) in order to bring Henry to Camp Nou.

The report says negotiations between Barca sport director Txiki Beguiristain and his Arsenal counterparts are already well advanced.

It also says the deal has met with approval from Arsene Wenger and the two players.

Eto'o's future has been the subject of speculation for some time and he has expressed a liking for the English game.

Henry has continued to be linked with Barca following Arsenal's disappointing season, even though he signed a long-term deal with The Gunners last summer.

Wenger guaranteed that his talismanic captain would not be sold earlier this month, while Henry has assured fans previously that his future remains in London.

Barcelona have yet to confirm whether there is any substance in the report, while Eto'o is currently away on international duty with Cameroon and has not commented

Doesnt letting Henry go for Etoo leave us at square one? We will be trading one 20 goal a season striker for another. I has to be Henry and Etoo and not Henry or Etoo.

true. but if you read the story it says eto plus 17m for henry. we would be mad to turn that down. with van persie back from injury and 17m to invest that problem would be solved

Lets not forget a couple of things here. One, Etoo will be unavailable for 2 months next year. Not only that he has habit of whining, he is not the sorta player who plays too long for one club, doesnt take much to make him unhappy. What if he have a poor season next year? He might start talking about leaving. Two, 17 million is no guarantee. We dont know which super super class players we could buy with that money. I dont like the sound of this. Id rather have a Etoo and Messi than Etoo and 17 million. It will be a huge risk to trade our top goal scorer with someone new, world class but new and untested in the premier league.

i agree with a lot of what ur saying. but if henry wants to leave and he hasnt totally denied it, hes answers always leaving doubt then this is prob the best deal we could hope for. if after one year eto'o wants to leave we would still have a 20m + player to sell!i would personally love to see henry and eto'o upfront!there good friends too!but we would never spend the sort of money he would cost.

If you go by the stories on Sky Sports Barcelcona are offering us Eto"o and £17 million for Henry. Now if you rate Eto"o at £30 million plus,That means their offer for Henry is £47 million. Henry is 30 this year four years older than Eto"o he has just suffered the worst season of injuries of his career. Can Arsene and more importantly the board turn down such an offer? If Henry did decide to go we would get a world class striker in return and £17 million,What a leaving present that would be.

Losing Henry would be too much for us to compete with. The team would be losing a great player, one of the greatest ever, and gaining a top class player in his place. Eto'o is world class and is what keeps Barca ticking over, not Ronaldinho who is there to be a show pony (exagerating but making a point) It is imperitive that we keep Henry we lose him and its bye bye any chance of winning the title.

Why don't we offer them Senderos and Hleb in exchange for Eto'o

Cant see the point of swapping Etoo for TH. We know TH can play in the Premiership and when he's fit again he's magic and we'll also have Van the Man back. I wonder if Etoo would be like another Baptisa - fucking useless.
