BOXING - Joe Calzaghe VS Roy Jones Jr

Post by northbankbren »

Aswell as the early battle of the titans at asburton on sat the big fight is on too.

This really could be a classic.

I think Joe is just too fast for Jones in this one. But what makes this so intresting is the fact that Jones (and boxing) is so unpredictable, he is more than capable of ko'ing joe, i know joe can take a punch but roy does have the ability to do it in the later rounds. Then again i can also see joe putting jones down late in the fight too.

Just dont know......

Which is whats gunna make this fight soooooooo good!!! :box:

Anyone who likes a bet put it on Calzaghe by points.......and

Calzaghe by ko in round 10, 11, and 12...cover all bases.

Cant wait for this weekend, we win against mancs, joe wins against the yanks........I hope anyway :box: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

p.s watch hbo 24/7 on fight here's part 1 you know how to do the rest

Calzaghe on points.

Jones can steal rounds but Calzaghe can win them. His work rate is too high for Jones.

Jones' face look so old now too, older than his years.

I thought that too quartz until the hopkins pavlik fight. thats what has made me slightly worried. Joe should do it though.

I understand the parallells but Joe has way more talent than Pavlik, and is more comfortable at the weight than Pavlik.

Did you hear Roy's rap?

Reasonable, but should stick to fighting!

Things I need to know!

I have Sultana sports so do I have to pay anything else for it?

I know it is at Madison Square Gardens so the fight will be at stupid o clock but does anyone know a rough kick off time?

Merci beacoup!

Been off work this week because i have torn ligaments in my knee and ankle, so been watching alot of tv and sentanta have had 'joe looks back' and 'jones jr story' programmes on which have made me even more excited because im a massive boxing fan.

Jones jr:

Fast hands
Been knocked down got back up to win
Massive experiance
SHARP left hook

But like quatz said unpredictable
looks much older and a lil jaded
Been disqulifed for punching oppents on the canvas

Calzage:

Emense work rate
fast combinations
Different punch angles
Been down got back up to win

He has though side-steped alot bigger fights (pavalik among others)
Hasnt had many 'big' fights in his long career
Wants to stay undefated which could hang over him

I'd say calzage with a close points win maybe even a split descion.

If you have sentanta already you wont have to pay i think its on sentatna 1, the kick off time could be any time becasue like you said its in america all depends on how the undercard fights go e.g. early knock outs or fighters pulling ect ect i'd hazzard a guess at 12ish hopefully

Do you guys get Calzaghe v Jones 24/7 on HBO? Gonna be a great fight can't wait for the first bell to ring, :box: :box: I think Calzaghe takes it in the 9th Jones just looks soo old and I don't think he has an answer for Calzaghe's speed. Have to pay $50 which is the only downside and $80 if I want it in HD thats the only shit thing about it :x

Definitely, I love how you're introduced to the boxer outside of the ring. This show pretty much just convinced me to buy the fight, guess those advertising people are doing their jobs
