Shocking news about Anthony Foley. A year older than me.
Lads, that's fairly disrespectful of some old woman who died. She probably has kids/grandkids. Bit of decorum please.Allgunsblazin wrote:Sounds like a Rooneyesque moment!...StuartL wrote:Hey, have some respect for DB10'S feelings.GranadaJoe wrote:DB10GOONER wrote:Sorry, who and who now?mcdowell42 wrote:Jean Alexander aka Hilda Ogden died today aged 90.
You don't remember your first & only girlfriend!!??
We have no choice at around 7pm, we are strapped to our armchairs and forced to watch the likes of Emmerdale and Corrie, suppose you have to watch that cross dresser "Mrs Brown" .....DB10GOONER wrote:Lads, that's fairly disrespectful of some old woman who died. "Aberfan", just the sight or sound of the name still makes my whole body go Ice Cold.
I was a young child when it happened, but to this day I remember my mother and my aunts weeping. The images in the papers, the news on the radio and the black and white images on my grandfather's television, he too wept.
I just read that entire piece, OneBard - and it is heartbreaking. Most people are aware of the disaster but that piece really brought home the human tragedy like nothing I've read on Aberfan before.OneBardGooner wrote:50 Years ago this day.

The NCB and the compensation commission were shameful in how they acted after the disaster.
When I get home from work tonight I'm giving my kids an extra big hug.
