Re: £49 million for sterling
Football is fucked, all it would take for a complete financial collapse is for one of the really big clubs to go tits up and be declared
Bankrupt and then it would all trickle downhill just like lehmanns caused a global meltdown, the whole football environment is just an illusion fuelled by petro dollars and dirty money from abroad, and no....this is not Arsene posting

I agree, it is a joke.REB wrote:no wonder football is fucked when a team pays that amount for a player
We did spend £42m on a player though, but at least it wasn't Sterling.

Re: £49 million for sterling
QPR get 10m of that.
It is fucked, it is a lot of money but to see Liverpool get made a fool out of by him was good to see, ironic that they will do the same and spend a big amount on average players, they are as big a part of the problem as the players.

Re: £49 million for sterling
There is nothing but upside in this for us a) Liverpool don't get all the money b)he will nothing but trouble c) Liverpool will piss the money away !

As much as I moan about Arsenal's inactivity in the transfer market that is one little prick I am glad we didn't go after.. The fee is mad and has been dictated somewhat by the player's antics. How in any God's name he can be valued at that price is unbelievable.

Re: £49 million for sterling
Sterling is a good player but he ain't THAT good. Not worth 49mill + the obvious baggage of a bad attitude and total self interest.
He, like Sturridge, was made to look a hell of alot better than he was by Suarez, and I think it's indicative of the modern game that a team like Citeh can now piss away that type of money knowing it won't have any serious long term negative impact on them even if Sterling fails miserably there.

Re: £49 million for sterling
We sign Sanchez for £35m, City sign Sterling for £49m.
Says it all really. One player shone in the world cup, another flattered to deceive. Sterling hasn't established himself in premiership really. Still kinda screws Nasri up, who will definitely be a bench warmer next season.
City need a CB as much as we do, Demechelis is shit.

You forgot to mention that Kompany is also shit.
Numerous fuck ups by him for many a season which invariably get stuffed under the rug or someone else like Demechelis is made to carry the can.

Re: £49 million for sterling
I think this transfer means that Liverpool are absoultely no threat to us now for next season
implications of this are that Wenger won't now buy anyone else this summer because the top 4 position is not under threat
