Entirely predictable. The offside goal will give Wenger the excuse to trot out but we were well beaten. No shape, so careless on the ball, incoherent pressing strategy.

For me, City were not particularly good today and in fact were incredibly wasteful. They must have mishit four or five passes to put somebody through on goal. Their game management at 2-0 was awful. They coasted past us without being anywhere near their best.

Ozil and Sanchez both appalling. Can we start playing Wilshere please.
Fair assessment, and agree with above, but not sure Wilshere is the answer

Wenger quite rightly complaining about the quality of the refereeing.

Very soft penalty and 3rd looked offside to me. Not convinced we'd have got anything if the goals were chalked off but they were key moments in the game.

In fact, I think we only got back into it because city eased off.

An hour after the game and I'm totally over another defeat already,
Not like years ago when I had the fucking 'ump for a week.......

Cheers Arsene.

Thought we were unlucky with the third. But they can’t moan at the penalty as Serling knew what he was doing and Monreal obliged.

Didn’t think City were that special but clearly beyond us.

Alan Smith with this seasons understatement so far - Arsenal have a hell of a scrap for fourth :|

Which is pretty much it.

Yeah, same :( Losing is routine these days and when you're star players are playing shite and running down their contracts, it's hard to feel a connection with this team.

Oh well, Sp*rs up next. Now that game will hurt if we lose!

Seriously, Monreal was very clumsy in his own area and you will never get away with that.

He was clumsy. I don't agree that you will never get away with it though; Monreal does the "clumsy" trick all the time and usually gets away with it!

Definite pen for me. If a forward did that to the defender it would be a foul. And do you need to even foul someone as shit as Sterling?! Just let him fuck it up on his own!

Offside maybe for the other but that deep why take the risk of either one man or an official getting it wrong? Just fucking defend and go with the man.

Obviously Wemger will complain but he made plenty of mistakes of his own today that cost us. As well as his ''scandalous decision'' to sign that contract that condemned us to more of this same shit!

With a better approach we could have come away from the games at Chelsea and City with 4 points as both of those opponents weren't on top form.

Laughable that the commentator said City swatted away another title rival. Just how many seasons do we need to not put in a title challenge before we're not considered title contenders anymore. 12 point gap at the start of November is about right.

What else did we expect..he really does have the luck of the devil...every defeat there is slight controversy and he focuses on it and all his fans on social media do too. They are better than us, they were just really poor today.

Wenger never mentions the ref when the decisions are in our favour..that soft pen we got in the Europa, that ridiculous red we got in our favour against Belgrade in the first game, the nailed on pen not given to WBA. It's swings and roundabouts..we lost, bottom line. And I agree with the penalty, he got behind our backline and was 5 yards from goal, why go down?? Monreal forced him down, he leaned on him/ pushed him down using his upper body.

If they didn't adopt such a lazy, lacksidasical attitude they could have had 6...I thought they were pretty poor tbh.

And we are going nowhere...I reckon 5th this season, perhaps 6th.

"Wenger said: "I would say overall the referee made the decision today, with the soft penalty and the offside goal. But we are used to it when coming here, last year they had two offside goals, and once again, I feel they don't work enough, because the level drops every season at the moment. Overall it's unacceptable what happens.

"The physical level is very good, the decisions [are not]. At 2-1 we are in the game, and he gives a clear offside goal, and of course that kills the game for us.

"And if you see last year we conceded two offside goals as well, but of course they are a top team, but on top of that it makes things very difficult for you."

Asked to describe the gap between City and his Arsenal side, 12 points behind, Wenger said: "I think they are a good side, and for the rest, I leave that to specialists.

"You have enough on television, super people who can analyse that better than I do."

Even without the penalty we'd have lost, even without that offside goal we'd have lost. Even with both going our way we'd have lost.

When it was 2-1 we didn't get the ball to have any chances. Özil and Sanchez can fuck off, completely pointless.

We'll be lucky to get 6th & win the Europa. I'd like us to win silverware, but if we could just decline the CL place that goes with it, that'd be great.

I'm trying to think which was the most inspired of Wenger's tactical decisions today.......spoilt for choice really

1. Playing Coquelin and Xhaka together to give that real sense of steel, security and intelligent break up of play without a rash tackle in sight
2. Start with Iwobi and Ramsey, who demonstrated so clearly how much better they are than Wilshere, never surrendering play unnecessarily, always picking the right pass and never dwelling unduly on the ball
3. Bringing on Joe L'Average, watching him score, and then promptly relegating him to right midfield to accommodate the Lamppost

Pure genius from the Great Man :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
