I'm glad I wasn't the only that thought his behaviour in that game cost us the title. The scouse scumbags were totally shell shocked up to that point and were heading for a humiliating home defeat. As soon as that happened they rallied and it gave them something to fight for. We were lucky to hold on to a draw in the end.
I didn't dislike him as many on here but he definitely cost us the title this year. Following that Liverpool game Southampton and the Shammers saw how to get at Arsenal and played to that agenda. it totally knocked us out of our stride.

If I go back 20-30 years and beyond, I genuinely used to think that we had the most sensible, honest and fair minded supporters of any I knew. We knew our strengths and weaknesses, knew where the club was getting things wrong and acknowledged better sides.

Conversely, in the course of the last 20 years, it seems that we've come to have more idiot supporters than other clubs. They seem to view supporting a team as a religion, or even a fucking cult, where nothing can be questioned and the whole world is seen through red and white spectacles. These cretins actually damage the club and are the reason that the Old Fraud was able to carry out his grifting for 10 years longer than he should have.

I think there's probably something in what a lot of people on here were saying a few years ago, that the modern game and the cost of watching (even on Sky etc) was driving old school supporters away and leaving us with clueless kids and parvenus.

I agree Retro, in the mid eighties we played Spartak Moscow in the EUFA cup and got spanked at Highbury 5-2 I think from memory - I wasn’t there but by all accounts they received a standing ovation.
Likewise Benfica in 92’s European Cup beat us 3-1 at home in extra time, sometimes you just have to accept the other team deserved to win.

That Manchester United team we competed with for trophies in the late 90’s / early 00’s was amazing, they found a way to win, I know they got a lot of decisions too but as a team they were great. In the 99 European Cup run they should have been dead and buried in the semi final and in the final they were outplayed for the whole game, as soon as they scored the equaliser you just knew they would win it, due to their mental strength.

I don’t watch much of our fan opinions videos, I’m sure all clubs have them , but we just don’t see them ( why would you ?) but it does seem that the more outrageous or controversial you are the more likes / views you get, which sadly, reflects modern society nit just football fans.

I’m so glad Xhaka has gone, his “ fantastic season “ last year should rank as bang average or expected given the players around him and the position he was playing, the odd assist or goal should be the minimum ( and this is where Havertz is falling short, no direct impact on goals yet )
