Literally no idea where the positivity is coming from. We are out of form. They are coming back into form. Our record against them recently is pony.

Let’s see. I fear the worst but hope for a draw.
The positivity is coming from the previous 19 games and not just the last 2.

I don't subscribe to us being out of form as such. Everton was the lift of a new manager and, as Retro pointed out, Dyche knowing how to set them up against us. Brentford are a decent side that have taken points off City at the Emptyhad remember as well as other notable results this season.

Its all about perspective.

Yep, I'm trying Clummo, I promise. :barscarf:

Take no notice of Bobby, he's a miserable old sod. I used to be like that, but I'm alright now. I'm on the happy pills until tomorrow night.
Give me some of those!

In the post now Bob, but you'll have to take a load though. I've OD'd on them, but hey man, we're gonna win by 4 clear goals tomorrow.

:sunshine_happy:
Muchos gracias.

That reminds me I’ve a load of end of season review videos knocking about somewhere but no way of watching them.

You still have a video recorder to watch those on SteveO?

I invested hours into those as a kid watching them over and over and over again. I used to love the goal celebrations Wrighty and Kevin Campbell would do together. So fucking cool.

I remember after a screamer by Merse at Old Trafford Martin Tyler on commentary said “Paul Merson is not a great goalscorer but he is a scorer of great goals”.

The few glimpses you’d get of the players at the training ground or GG speaking to them (the infamous clip of him talking to them about the 2 point deduction) and of course my beloved Anders tearing defences to shreds and scoring for fun.

I must find those beauties and get them transferred onto DVD. Absolute porn.
I’ve got the same mate from 88 through to 95 I’m guessing along with a few other select ones I recorded like the 87 league cup final and the 94 cup winners cup final -no vhs player, so they just sit among my boxes of Arsenal stuff, which I occasionally reminisce about up the loft while supposedly looking for a suitcase or something

I specifically remember in the 1991 end of season video, the girls form the ticket office, with bin bags on, holding eggs while looking for their target …
And talking of suitcases, a youthful David Hiller not knowing how to celebrate winning the league asking “ what do you do , how do you act “

Wish the 89 end of season vid showed so much more of the scenes in the dressing room after the Anfield win, and more of the celebrations at the town hall.

I went down to London form Suffolk in the summer of 89 to attend the release of the video at HMV, Oxford Street ? To get my copy signed by George, Rocky, Adams and Kev Richardson….have a photo of me with George signing behind me…happy days indeed.

I have that 91 video somewhere. If I recall correctly the tea ladies (?) with the eggs were chasing Bouldy around the tunnel or he was maybe chasing them? So long ago....

They were amazing. I remember getting them for my birthday. Back then as a kid there’d be games you didn’t even see the highlights of, so it was amazing to have a record of the whole season. Even the years where we went out the cups and finished about 7th were great, but the ones where we one something were spectacular.

As much as I hate losing, tomorrow should be “interesting” regardless. Basically three possible scenarios: a huge statement win, which would almost certainly require some absolute spot on tactical tweaking from Arteta given our last two shoddy performances. Or a decent reenergised performance but not quite good enough - a draw or very narrow loss that at least gives us hope for the future, even if it means the title this year is still “unlikely”. (Most likely I guess). Or the gulf in class and lack of cutting edge re-emerges emphatically and we get brushed aside and then the only question really is how far we will slide over the next 16 games.

This is our season right here. And I think we need to win it. We need a healthy cushion going down the home straight as City know how to get over the line, we don't. And if we lose, I think the title challenge is all but over.

I see you've used the happy pills I sent. They work a treat, but the cold turkey on Thursday morning is gonna be grim.

I've not got a good feeling about this tonight  I think Arteta will persist with the same line up again and city will roll us over comfortably :( were 0-1 0-1 1-1 going into this and we've lost 10 on the bounce in the league to this lot which is a horrendous stat.

One thing is certain, which is if that cheating c.unt Grealish plays he'll shame Tom Daley and Wilf Zaha with his fucking diving antics. C.UNT !

Hmmm, yep I think that's the most likely three outcomes. I think a loss might kill us in the long term but a good win might be the lift the team needs. I still don't believe Arteta has the experience and savvy yet nor do I quite believe this squad has the players to win the league, but so far they've done brilliantly and I'm hoping beyond hope we do it. 8)

Would be a MASSIVE win if we can do it tonight.

COME ON YOU RIP ROARING GUNNERS! :barscarf:

Absolutely, mate. I used to slag off the foreign leagues like the Spanish and Italians especially, saying they were full of cheating diving cùnts and that we would never see that in the English game.

Jesus fucking Christ how that has changed.

Slippy G, the Granny Botherer, Fat Tongue, Scuba Grealish, Dwayne Dibbley.... the list goes on and on, all diving pricks and never called out for it by commentators or pundits or reporters.

Bricking it over tonight, if ever there was a game that was pivotal in our development as a team this is it. Do we get back into the big time, and start pushing the top teams for trophies after such a long time or are we as was the case before Wenger left, just content with a top 4 place. I really hope that the players turn up tonight.

If this is anyway close we are getting screwed by the ref and VAR. At the weekend, Grealish does one of the most pathetic dives I've ever seen. In the United game, the VAR official draws the line for Rashford's goal to be given while in our game, the cùnt doesn't even draw the lines. Funny how the only one of the top 3 negatively affected by VAR was us. The FA and the media are beyond eager for an all Manchester title race and if they can screw us over to ensure that happens then they definitely will.

I dont really get the hype over tonight - it is just another league match in the middle of the season.
it won't decide anything.

hoping for a win, but fearing the worst.
to be honest I am starting to lose a bit of interest now that it is impossible to get a ticket and VAR is proving to be totally corrupt.

In a sense this is the perfect time for this game as the belief is probably lacking a bit at this moment. You could easily see us dropping points against a mid table side right now, so we may as well have a massive challenge instead to get us fired up again. A win here against the best side in the league would wipe the memory of the last three games clean and very likely spring board us to the title. Quite the prize.
