Issue 202 of The Gooner from January 2009 features our inspirational captain on the front cover and invites players and fans alike to follow his lead as we go into a crucial stage of the season. We rather like the back cover as well and hope you will do too!
Inside the articles reflect a more upbeat mood after a run of decent results. Chris Wellsted was particularly keen to redress the balance of recent Gooner content and contributed a piece focussing on the positives at Arsenal right now and there’s plenty of those. Simon Rose is also optimistic about the future and writes about three specific reasons why, whilst Adrian Wagenaar finds similarities between this season and the glorious first double season of 70-71.
There’s also pieces on the players the fans love to blame, the concluding part of our look back at the highlights of the noughties and the second in our series of articles about a name from our past which might not be familiar with all our readers – this time Eddie Hapgood.
Plus much more including all the regulars - Highbury Spy is back after a month off, Mickey Cannon writes from Australia, Dwight-Hart Lane pays a visit to the Arsenal training ground and comes face-to-face with Sol Campbell, while In The Away End contributor David O’Brien discovers just how depressing it is to be a Bolton fan.
