England showed huge reserves of fight and character to battle back from two goals down to eventually beat valiant Sweden 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra time.
Two early goals from Asllani and Arsenal's Stina Blackstenius stunned England as Sweden appeared to be sending the holders packing after a poor first half from the Euro 2022 winners.
However, on a dramatic evening at the Stadion Letzigrund, Sarina Wiegman's England side showed huge reserves of character to pull back two late goals after substitute Chloe Kelly changed the course of the match.
The Arsenal attacker provided an assist for Lucy Bronze moments after coming on for Lauren Hemp as determined England pulled a goal back.
Worse was to come for the Swedes when Arsenal's 19-year-old teenage prodigy Michelle Agyemang fired home after Gunners colleague and fellow substitute Beth Mead provided an assist to leave the shellshocked Scandinavians stunned.
A further 30 minutes extra time failed to separate the teams, teeing up the prospect of a dreaded penalty shootout.
The spot-kicks provided high drama with both goalkeepers making saves to see England reach the semi-finals after winning 3-2 on penalties on a never-to-be-forgotten night in Switzerland.

Hannah Hampton: 8/10 - Outstanding performance after a number of superb saves to keep England in the game. Mary who? Alert and not afraid to come off her line to clear when Sweden played it long. A superb diving save to deny Rolfo moments before the interval, and again from Arsenal's outstanding Stina Blackstenius who was absolutely superb for the Scandinavians until England's two late goals.
Lucy Bronze: 7.5/10 - Part of a stunned backline that was overrun by Sweden's opening salvos. Pushed further forward as the game went on, providing crosses and a presence in Sweden's final third. Grabbed England's first after excellent work from Arsenal's Chloe Kelly moments after coming on. Showed bravery when strapping up her leg late on in extra time refusing to come off
Leah Williamson: 8/10 - Crucial block to deny her Gunners teammate Stina Blackstenius when it looked as if Sweden's Arsenal striker was about to fire past Hampton. Fell awkwardly on her ankle which forced her withdrawal at the start of the second half of extra time having given her all
Jessica Carter: 5/10 - Endured a torrid first half and will be having sleepless nights all summer the way Arsenal's Stina Blackstenius relentlessly drove at the Chelsea defender. Replaced by Arsenal's young star Michelle Agyemang as part of Sarina Wiegman's triple switch on 70 minutes
Alex Greenwood: 7/10 - Worked hard tracking back and denying time and space but looked overrun at times in a damaging first half by hordes of yellow shirts swarming forward
Ella Toone: 6.5/10 - Grew in stature as the game progressed but unable to get on the scoresheet. Switched for Morgan
Keira Walsh: 6.5/10 - Put in a shift on a difficult evening prior to England's two late goals
Georgia Stanway: 6/10 - Gave her all as ever but failed to make inroads. Switched with Beth Mead as part of late triple sub
Lauren James: 7/10 - Frustatingly ceded possesion at times when well set. Not as influential as her talent but grew into the game as the brave Lionesses salavaged what could have been a disappointing evening
Alessia Russo: 7.5/10 - Arsenal's striker never stopped working. Never stopped running on and off the ball, but was denied space and time by Sweden's intense pressing from the backline
Lauren Hemp: 6/10 - Hit the bar in the first half. Replaced by Chloe Kelly with 12 minutes remaining
