Arsenal seal £48.5m signing of Noni Madueke on five year deal

Arsenal have completed the signing of England winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea for an initial fee of £48.5m rising to £52m

Madueke has signed a five-year contract at Emirates Stadium, with his fee rising to just over £50m with add-ons.

Noni will wear the number 20 shirt, and due to his playing commitments in the Club World Cup this summer, will join up with the squad in early August after our Asia tour.

Boss Mikel Arteta said: "We're all so happy to welcome Noni Madueke to the team.

“Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality. He is one of the most talented wide forward players in the Premier League.

“At just 23, Noni already brings experience of club and international football, and he knows the Premier League very well. Having seen the quality of Noni’s performances up close in recent seasons, we’re really excited he is joining us."

Madueke is Arsenal's fourth signing of the summer after Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.

Madueke made 92 appearances for Chelsea after joining from PSV Eindhoven for £30m in January 2023 and scored 20 goals, helping them win the Conference League last season.

The 23-year-old was part of Chelsea's squad at the Club World Cup in the United States but left the camp before last Sunday's 3-0 win against Paris St-Germain in the final to finalise his move to Arteta's side.

Arteta added: “Noni joins our group with familiar England teammates and other players he knows. He will be made to feel at home straight away. His arrival will really improve our squad - we’re all thrilled to have him here. From all of us, welcome Noni and welcome to your family.”

Madueke was at Crystal Palace before a spell with Tottenham's academy prior to spending four-and-a-half years in the Netherlands, where he won the Dutch Cup.

Madueke made his England senior debut in August 2024 and set up Harry Kane's winner as Thomas Tuchel's side defeated Andorra 1-0 in World Cup qualification last month.

Sporting director Andrea Berta said: "We’re very pleased to have concluded an excellent deal for a hugely talented young player in Noni Madueke.

“Noni’s performance numbers and availability over recent seasons have been exceptional, reflecting his quality and professionalism. Noni is a dynamic, versatile wide forward player with strong technical ability who will significantly strengthen our squad.

“Noni already has valuable experience at the top level and we know he will make a big impact at Arsenal. Together with everyone at the club, we warmly welcome Noni to Arsenal."

The 23-year-old is the seventh player to make the move from Chelsea to Arsenal in the last six years, after Kepa, Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Jorginho, Willian and David Luiz.

According to Orbinho, with No20 on his back Madueke will follow in the footsteps of Pål Lydersen, Chris Kiwomya, Matthew Upson, Guillaume Warmuz, Philippe Senderos, Johan Djourou, Mathieu Flamini, Shkodran Mustafi, Nuno Tavares and Jorginho.
