Arsenal just missed out on Champions League last season.

So signing the rightplayers to improve is vital.

But who should the Gunners be looking out for this summer?

Five Players Arsenal Should Sign This Summer

Mikel Arteta spent around £140 million last year on new players. Although there was a lot of criticism early in the season, his overhaul of the Arsenal squad was successful in the end, with the club only just missing out on qualifying for the Champions League.

It is good to see that the powers that be have kept their faith in the Spanish manager and look to be giving him even more to spend this summer. Top betting sites like BetOnline don’t seem to give the Gunners much of a chance of breaking into the top four. But all that could change if these five players arrive at the Emirates in the next few months.

Gabriel Jesus

Arteta has already stolen a march on some of his rivals by landing two important signings for the season ahead in Fabio Viera and Marquinhos. With Lacazette returning to France, Marquinhos is a valuable addition. But he is not a striker that will immediately start every game for Arsenal. Gabriel Jesus could be the man for that job.

Sometimes overlooked in Manchester City’s bulging squad, Jesus has provided important goals for club and country and would be ideal to lead the line for the Gunners. Money seems to be the main stumbling block with this move, as Jesus would be happy to team up again with Arteta.

Youri Tielemens

With just one year left on his contract at Leicester, it could be good timing for all parties for Tielemens to depart the King Power Stadium. With uncertainty surrounding the future of Granit Xhaka, another midfielder brought into the club would an ideal move.

Tielemens is not just any old squad player though. The Belgium international has an exquisite touch and his passing and shooting are top drawer. He is exactly the kind of attacking midfielder that would fit seamlessly into the Arsenal team – and the club as a whole.

Houssem Aouar

Arsenal missed out on Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes in January when they were unsure about paying the asking price for the Brazilian midfielder. He eventually went to Newcastle but now the Gunners are interested in his former teammate Houssem Aouar.

Aouar was actually also on the Arsenal radar in the winter but, with his contract extension talks stalling at the Ligue 1 club, he could now make the move to London this summer. He is excellent with the ball at his feet and the two clubs already have a recent transfer history with Lacazette returning to his former team.

This might well be the most exciting potential transfer signing of the summer for Arsenal fans. Raphinha has been in electrifying form this last season just gone, even though his Leeds United side only just stayed up in the end. His pace and skill would fit Mikel Arteta’s plans perfectly it would seem.

A lot depends on whether Nicolas Pepe leaves the Emirates though. Leeds seem to be fine with Raphinha leaving Elland Road, but would be asking for a large fee. The only way Arsenal would be able to pay so much would be if the Ivory Coast winger were sold. We will wait to see how this one develops.

Lisandro Martinez

A lot of transfer rumours and excitement concentrates on the attacking players. But it is no secret that Arsenal needs to do something in the defensive unit to strengthen before the new season kicks off. Ajax central defender Lisandro Martinez would definitely do the job.

He would also probably attract a large transfer fee but has reportedly shown interest in a move to London. But the appointment of former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Manchester United could see the Argentinian teaming up at Old Trafford instead. Arteta should probably do all he can to change his mind.
