I'm still at a loss to understand why May called this election when she absolutely didn't need to but you can be sure it wasn't for the good of the country and it's electorate.nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2017 3:49 amYou know I liken Corbyn to Wenger in many ways Herd. They both consider not finishing 1st as a sucesss and live in the past.
Your prediction of Brexit not happening isn't so far fetched now. A doomsday scenario of the Consevatives imploding with another General Election and possibly a Labour victory could surely trigger another EU vote. At the very least we would get to the end of article 50 with a much softer version than the Tories wanted to push through that has to be ratified by the people. I am sure someone like Gina Miller will make sure anything the government does try to push through is legitimate based on current UK laws and practices.
ISIS must be patting themselves on the back, their attacks amongst other things (including pissing pensioners off) have undermined our government.
My "No Brexit" prediction came in two parts ,either no Brexit or a fudged Brexit indefinable from staying in the EU and this May was always going to do !
As for ISIS these idiots are copycat amateur killers not members of smersh ,that they exposed the Tory bullshit to a sleeping public was a bonus though !

Re: May calls for General Election 8th June 2017
She called the election simply because all the indicators were that she'd smash Corbyn to pieces. It was all about gaining a much stronger presence in parliament for the tories. When she announced the election it was hard to argue that point and just about everyone agreed.
What she didn't see coming was Corbyn getting all the younger vote on board by offering them free tuition fees. Now, I'll admit to being a cynic but I think there were a lot of younger people who couldn't normally afford to go who thought that three years at Uni instead of getting a job was quite appealing.
The election was an absolute disaster in all but one respect. It shut Nicola Sturgeon up!

I see that Nicola Sturgeon is holding court in Parliament Square, trying to stir the shit.
She hates England and the English so she should just fuck off back over the border, and stay oot!
We should just give them independence and cut them loose. We would save billions if they weren't leeching off us anymore.
Also, the uncontained glee of the B.B.C. at the election result is becoming fucking annoying, they are supposed to maintain neutrality in news reporting, not hold the banner for the Metropolitan,Millennial, chattering classes.

Theresa May can't even finalise a deal with 10 DUP MPs from Northern Ireland.
I dont give her much hope with the 27 EU countries in Brexit talks
as for Nicola Sturgeon being silenced - well only temporarily. It is still very possible that Corbyn wins a GE later this year and is propped up by Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP.

Those DUP negotiators will run rings around old Theresa. They are bitter sectarian bastards whose entire existence is based around "negotiating" one-upmanship over the other side. And yes that goes for the hardline Republicans too. Both sides are just filled with so many bitter hateful sectarian bastards.Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2017 12:50 pmTheresa May can't even finalise a deal with 10 DUP MPs from Northern Ireland.

one of the reasons given for the Queen's Speech being delayed is that it has to be written on goat-skin - and that takes a week to process, because it has to be hung up to dry.

Can I just say it is never going to happen, if it does the credibility of the Conservative party is at risk, and I think it will soon be a case of "Et Tu Brute"
Queens Spech to be amended thanks to the DUP....

And there's that word again............the word that causes the most amount of problems not only in politics but across the world in general.
"power"
The sooner that politicians realise they are "in service" not "in power", the sooner things will start to improve.

Re: May calls for General Election 8th June 2017
Getting a bit worried over what Democracy is 'supposed' to mean in Britain these days.
It seems it is only valid if the liberal left is running the show and get the right result. We criticise other countries for not being particularly democratic but we have now had two votes with admittedly marginal wins and both times the losers are kicking off like butt hurt little children and the pathetic media are continually stoking the flames.
We had votes under our democratic system as it stands in this country, rightly or wrongly it is our current system and if people cannot accept the results then i'm not sure we can we have any place to criticise less democratic countries around the world.
The shit Tories won (just), the shit Labour lost it is that simple. We're at one of the most critical points in our countries history and the outcome of the next few years is absolutely critical to the future of everyone of us and yet with less than 10 days until negotiations are due to start we can't even align for the good of our nation, what a joke we have all become.
I can't understand it personally and maybe i have a slightly skewed view of things due to my history but every person in this country, Remainer or Brexiteer needs Brexit to work, immaterial of political affiliation, if it doesn't it will be a socio-economic disaster for everyone and for those thinking that a reversal of the vote would be better you have to be off your fcuking head if you think the EU wont screw us for ever having the audacity to think of leaving them. But here we are as a nation bickering and bickering and getting absolutely nowhere which is no good for any of us

Re: May calls for General Election 8th June 2017
The election just gone has to represent a low point in the modern history of this country. Two uninspired parties both without a clear vision or message, the Tories completely alienating themselves from their hardcore vote and young people finally coming out to vote bribed by the prospect of a free 3 year piss up.
But personally out of all the voting groups, I question why the UKIP voters went back to Labour. It would seem that this happened a lot across the north with working class people not being able to vote Tory. I can understand that, there still is a lot of bitterness over the Tories perceived attack on Northern industry in years gone by, but ffs if you voted UKIP it's because you want Brexit and the hardest version possible. So the Tories where giving you what you wanted with a fuck all the consequences attitude. Yet UKIPers in their masses still voted Labour, you couldn't make it up.
Now Farage has come out of the woodwork again, if brexit isn't to his liking he will try to regain UKIPs hardcore vote. The only thing is this time there is a new demographic in the voting landscape of this country, young people who will definitely be opposed to any form of hard brexit. Unfortunately it will take a decade like the 70s of hyper inflation, and high unemployment before these young people will realise that solcialism in its purest form doesn't work.
I cannot remember a time in the last 30/40 years where our country has been so divided. The future compared with other parts of the world is bleak imo.
