Firstly, thank you for your loyal support for the fanzine, your backing is very much appreciated – and we are very much looking forward to bringing you half a dozen more printed issues of the Gooner over the coming year.
Because of your goodwill and hard-earned cash - with many of you taking out a subscription earlier this year - we’re delighted that the Gooner Fanzine will continue for another season – and we’ll be printing six issues during the 2020-21 season as ever.
With two pieces of silverware in the merry month of August optimism has once again returned to the club under the progressive management of Mikel Arteta – and hopes are high for the new campaign.
As you will be aware, long-serving former editor Kev Whitcher has handed the reigns of the Gooner Fanzine to yours truly and we’re raring to go for the forthcoming season.
But, as a fanzine - as the name suggests – we need fans to sell to.
As the Covid crisis continues to bite, we took a substantial hit on Kev’s final issue of last season - which we produced despite having no fans to sell to outside grounds – so we’ve taken the sensible financial decision to wait until the Sheffield United game at the Emirates on October 3 to sell our first issue of the season, following the club's announcement on the phased return of supporters.
Subscribers will continue to get the issue in the usual manner before it hits the streets prior to the match on October 3 and all six issues will be published throughout the season as normal.
We’ve got a great team at the Gooner, with a talented, hard-working squad who help out as a labour of love as loyal Arsenal supporters.
After a hectic summer, I’ll be reaching out to our contributors and ‘backroom staff’ over the coming days as we start to pull together our first issue of the new season.
So: To confirm - we’ll be back on Saturday October 3 with all your old favourites and columnists as well as Gunners legend Lee Dixon and the world’s foremost Arsenal correspondent in Charles Watts – as well as our usual mix of exclusive interviews from players past and present and well known former staff.
