Philips: Make Mine A Double Too

DIAL SQUARE midfielder Aidan Phillips capped a phenomenal double-winning season for the non-leaguers by scooping the managers’ player of the year and the players’ player of the year awards at the club’s social and presentation day on May 25.

Phillips was the popular choice among his peers for his tenacity throughout Dial’s incredible 2023-24 season; a campaign that saw the Chertsey-based side lose just once in 33 league and cup fixtures and score 136 goals.

Meanwhile, goalscoring sensation Harry Rice won the golden boot for being the club’s top scorer. Rice notched an astonishing 49 goals (41 goals in 26 league games) in 33 appearances for The Dial, which culminated in breaking the previous Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division record by seven goals.

The striker’s scoring prowess equated to 1:48 goals per game (in all competitions); one of the highest returns at any level of English (men’s) football over the past decade.

Phillips and Rice received their awards from first team manager, Steve Brown, and assistant manager, Matt Bunyan, who also paid tribute to the great work, support and togetherness of everyone involved with the progressive club.

There was also special thank you to club chairman, Tony Hurley, who has been central to Dial's transformation on and off the pitch over the past 12 months.

Dial are now waiting for their promotion to the Surrey Premier County Football League (step 7) to be rubber-stamped by member clubs on 22 June.

Once ratified, the club will be the first club since records began to gain three consecutive promotions in their first three full seasons since being formed in 2020.

Dial will kick-off their 2024-25 pre-season campaign away to Combined Counties League Premier Division South side Fleet Town on 29 June. Full details will be available on www.dialsquarefc.com.
