Breaking: Zubimendi in London to sign for Arsenal for £51m

Martin Zubimendi in London for Arsenal transfer talks as Real Madrid stance confirmed

One of the transfer saga's of the last 12 months is set to be completed this weekend with the news that Arsenal's long-term target Martin Zubimendi is in London, and is finally set to sign for the north London giants.

The Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta has appeared to have beaten Real Madrid to the coveted midfielder's signature, after being tracked by both clubs over the last few months. 

It is understood the player has a €60million (£51.7m) release clause from Real Sociedad, with Zubimendi now in London with his representatives to thrash out the smallprint of his eaegerly-awaited move.

Real Madrid had Zubimendi on their radar, but opted against pursuing a move for the player, with new boss Xabi Alonso looking elsewhere. 

While Liverpool had also been in the hunt for the midfielder, but Zubimendi had decided against a move to Merseyside.
