Renee Slegers triumphant side will compete in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in early 2026

Arsenal will play in the first ever 2026 Women's Champions Cup it has been confirmed. 

The inaugural edition of the competition is set to take place between the end of January and February 1. 

The 2026 Women's Champions Cup will be a six-team tournament, and is understood to be hosted by a location in Europe, North America or South America, with the destination to be decided over the coming months. 

While the first two rounds will be held at the home sides of the AFC and CAF champions, from the semi-finals onwards, all four remaining teams will compete for the silverware in a neutral country predetermined by FIFA.

Renee Slegers triumphant side will be Europe's representatives after memorably winning the Champions League last month, beating Barcelona in the final.

The intercontinental club competition will see the six winners of the continental club competition from each of Fifa's six confederations face other to be crowned world champions.

American side Gotham FC will represent Concacaf, Chinese outfit Wuhan Jiangda are the AFC team that will be involved and Auckland United from New Zealand will represent the Oceanian Football Confederation.

The teams from South America and Africa are yet to be confirmed.

The Women's Champions Cup will take place in a cycle of three years in every four, with the exception of the year in which another new tournament - the FIFA Women's Club World Cup - is held.

That tournament will first be held in 2028 with the Gunners, Gotham and Wuhan Jiangda all featuring.
