Euro 2025: Frida Maanum's Norway knocked out after late Italy winner

Cristiana Girelli's injury time goal condemned Norway to yet another tournament failure.

Frida Maanum and Norway are out of Euro 2025 after losing 2-1 to Italy in the quarter-finals.

Critstiana Girelli's stoppage time header, completing her brace, sent dark horses Italy through to the semis and a meeting with either England or Sweden.

Maanum was deployed in a deeper midfield role than her usual Arsenal position as Norway struggled to control the game against a creative Italian side.

Girelli put Italy in front five minutes into the second half before Ada Hegerberg missed her second penalty tournament, but equalised shortly after.

Arsenal midfielder Maanum was substituted in the second half, as Girelli's late goal condemned Gemma Grainger's star-studded Norway to yet another major tournament failure.
