Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta praises his squad's quality in depth

Gunners overwhelm Bilbao to win Emirates Cup with all eyes now on Manchester United vs Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta praised his team after an impressive performance against Athletic Cup Bilbao in the Emirates Cup on Saturday.

New striker Viktor Gyokeres grabbed his first Gunners goal, with Bukayo Saka adding a second shortly afterwards, prior to a late strike from fit again Kai Havertz as Arteta's side overwhelmed their La Liga opponents at the Emirates.

Speaking after the match, Arteta hailed his side's strength in depth, ahead of the crunch clash at Old Trafford next Sunday, when they open their Premier League campaign against Manchester United.

Arteta said: “In every position now, we have a different quality, a lot of players that can play in various positions as well with a lot of versatility, bringing different kinds of qualities and threats to the team.

“So, we're going to manage that in the best possible way to maintain everybody with the right cohesion, hunger and the fact that at any moment we can change the puzzle and make it very difficult for the opposition."

He added: “I’m very pleased with the performance, with the way we play as a team, the cohesion, the fluidity, the dynamism and the level of threat that we were able to provide throughout the game. A lot of big individual performances as well and I'm very pleased with the result and the clean sheet. Very happy with [it all].”
