Arsenal Player Ratings at Liverpool after Gunners lose at Anfield 

Here's View From The Armchair's Player Ratings after Arsenal lost at Anfield to Liverpool 

David Raya: 7.5/10 - nearly playing in the Graeme Souness midfield role in the first half such was Arsenal's dominance, sent jitters through the team on 33 mins with a misplaced pass he got away with, made to pay on 82 minutes beaten by a 32 yard freekick.

Riccardo Calafiori: 8/10 - aggressive from the start, got forward to join the attack and looked dangerous, nicked Ekitike’s lunch money, dignity, pride and soul, Arsenals best player for me  

Gabriel: 7.5/10 - was always going to be needed at his commanding best today at this fortress, even more so after four minutes, after Saliba was forced off. Sadly couldn’t get the clean sheet we desperately required  

William Saliba: N/A - four minutes in, he’s injured, as Mosquera comes on. Tony Adams would have had to have a leg hanging off to depart this pitch. Am I being harsh to say it sends all kinds of wrong signals here, most importantly the fact he didn't fancy it - or am I being too hard on the lad.

Jurrien Timber:  7.5/10 - no repeat of his two goal heroics against Leeds, but a hard shift put in nonetheless, not allowed to have cramp in the 92nd minute apparently.

Declan Rice: 7.5/10 - called into central defence early doors after Saliba went off injured, going be a load of baloney chatted during the never-ending international break about how well Liverpool played, not the game I watched.  

Mikel Merino: 7.5/10 - Arsenal absolutely dominated possession in the first half - Gary Neville couldn't stand it on the pundit spot - and the Spanish midfielder/striker put in a solid shift until replaced by Martin Odegaard on 69 minutes

Martin Zubimendi: 7/10 - dovetailed perfectly with Rice in midfield, delivered a thou shall not pass performance in the first half, booked on 80 minutes as Liverpool robbed this result from our clutches with a long range freekick

Noni Madueke: 7.5/10 - pacey, tricky, our most dangerous out up front, couldn’t find the spark we needed in the second half.  

Gabi Martinelli:  7.5/10 - very happy to see Mikel Arteta keep the faith in young Martinelli, a just reward for his efforts over the last two seasons or so, and the right message to send to the team. Put in a shift defensively

Viktor Gyokeres: 7/10 - toiled and chased as the stats reveal Liverpool had 49% possession in the first half, must have been Neville on the keyboard 'cos that’s an incredible stat, as Arsenal dominated opening 45. Alas, Viktor didn’t do enough to cause a fret up front.

Substitutes:

Mosquera: 7.5/10 - chance to be a hero on foiur minutes, slotted in comfortably at the back, looked more assured as the game progressed, desperately unlucky to come away from his first Anfield appearance with anything less than a clean sheet.  

Ebrechie Eze: 7/10 - double substitution as Anfield finds its voice, let’s go, instantly quietens down Anfield just by making an appearance, but Liverpool demonstrate why they are champions taking all three points without playing anywhere near well.  

Martin Odegaard: 7/10 - our captain made an appearance, but who was on the stats, as apparentlyLiverpool had  71% possession after the break? More Neville shenanigans it feels like but Liverpool see out the match, with Odegaard failing to make a lasting impact.

Max Dowman: 7/10 - will give Neville a chance to pile in on him as he inevitably will over and over and over but anything that gets our talented 15-year-old more Premier League minutes, and more top flight experience is a good thing.

View From The Armchair Verdict 

That’s it from the Armchair, I’m too gutted to keep on writing, not the result our performance deserved, but we won’t be hearing about any of that for the next week, Liverpool doing Liverpool things.

This result will take some getting over. Safe travels home Gooners.
