Arsenal close to signing £12m Chelsea midfielder Jorginho but still want to break bank for Caicedo

Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho - but are still in the hunt for Brighton's Moises Caicedo.

Despite having bids turned down by the south coast outfit that would have broken the Gunners transfer record, boss Mikel Arteta remains determined to bring the highly-rated 21-year-old - even if the club has been rebuffed so far.

In the meantime, the North Londoners are close to agreeing a £12m deal with Chelsea for midfielder Jorginho.

The 31-year-old midfielder is expected to sign an 18-month contract, with an option to extend for a further year.

The Brazil-born Italian international is in the final six months of his Blues deal - and would be surplus to requirements if the Stamford Bridge outfit establish a British record transfer for prime target, Benfica central midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
