Arsenal have confirmed that discussions are underway with Manchester City loanee Chloe Kelly to keep the England star in North London on a permanent deal.
Kelly’s loan expires at the end of June, with the club stating that “Discussions are ongoing, and once matters are finalised between all parties, we will communicate in due course.”
The former Gunners academy graduate signed on loan on January deadline day, and played a key role as Arsenal won the Champions League and secured a second place finish in the Women’s Super League.
Kelly scored for England in Friday’s thrashing of Portugal, having moved to Arsenal on loan in order to rescue her chances of making the England squad for Euro 2025. The 27-year-old’s contract with Manchester City expires this month after five years with the club.
Asked about Kelly’s future following Arsenal’s win over Manchester United in May, head coach Renée Slegers said: “She has made a very positive impact for us, you see it on the pitch in games and we see it in training as well. We are really happy with Chloe as we are with many other players as well.
“I think everyone sees that she has been positive for us and I am very happy with her.”
